In a world where they lived just 1.5 miles apart - but in different towns, at different schools, and with the rest of their lives ahead of them - it should have been impossible. Sapphire was the one who made the first move - something totally out of character for her. But there was something different about D’Andre that made her take a chance and ask if he wanted to hang out. For their first date, D’Andre picked her up in his mom’s car and they headed to Andy’s Frozen Custard in Countryside, IL and they laughed the afternoon away. The next day at lunch, Sapphire gushed to her best friends, “He looked at me like I was the most beautiful girl in the world!”. It wasn't just a stare, it was an intense and unforgettable moment where time stood still as he looked with such intensity and awe admiring her every detail. He quite literally almost crashed the car from looking at her so long! Funny enough, D’Andre later admitted he truly did feel that way and, in that moment, had hoped she’d be his forever. By the second date, nerves and emotion took over, and D’Andre, sweating profusely, blurted out "I love you”. And he meant it. He brought Sapphire patience, calmness, and would do anything to make her smile. She brought fire, adventure, and a sense of home he’d never known. Ten years, two beautiful children, and countless memories later… He still brings her peace when life gets overwhelming, and she still brings the fire that keeps every day an adventure.
