Airports
Crete has two airports, CHQ is only a short car ride from the wedding's venue. Heraklion Airport has better connectivity, but it is a 2.5 hour drive to Chania. You will find direct flights to Chania in early June mainly from UK, major European cities (Paris, Rome, Frankfurt, Amsterdam) and Scandinavian hubs. Heraklion Airport has a shuttle that you can use to transfer to Chania, if needed. Transportation in Chania Walkability Chania town is very walkable and has public transportation. If you stay in town, you can get around on foot, rent bikes or scooters, and use buses or organized tours for longer trips. Transport To / From the Airport - Taxi: ~€25 to Chania town (about 25 minutes) - Bus: ~€2.50 (about 25 minutes) - Car rental: Available directly at the airport Car Rental Renting a car is the easiest way to explore the rest of Crete, including Elafonissi Beach, Falassarna Beach, Samaria Gorge, Rethymno, and Heraklion. Both local and international companies operate at Chania Airport. We also have a relationship with Caravel rental cars, which is a local rental company. Please contact Katerina at +30 697 499 2353, and mention our wedding. Ride-Hailing Apps Ride-hailing apps like Uber and Lyft do not operate in Crete. FreeNow is available in cities such as Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, and Hersonissos, but not in Chania. Taxis Local taxis are widely available, especially at the airport, Old Town, and major areas. Hotels can also arrange taxis for you. Buses Public buses operated by KTEL Crete connect Chania with destinations across the island. Most hotels are located in the Chania Old Town and its suburbs. Some of the listed options are near the wedding venue (Agia Marina), which is 15 min away by car. In the Old Town, some hotels may not have elevator and parking access. Please make sure to check with your hotel if needed!
