Question

RESORT: What do I need to know about Checking In and Checking Out?

Answer

You will need to show your passport* AND a stamped Mexican Tourist Card** to check-in. CHECK-IN is at 3:00pm CHECK-OUT is at 12:00pm *Be sure your full name on your passport and your full name on your reservation matches EXACTLY – if you need to update your name on the reservation, let Nicole Adams (hello@dreamday.com.mx) know. See travel page for passport questions **Mexican Tourist Card is distributed by your airline and stamped by Mexican immigration authorities upon arrival to Mexico – you can complete the form now through this link, and after printing, I recommend keeping it with your passport: https://www.mexicotouristcard.com/ During check-in, be sure to register for your covid test - you will need this to get back into the U.S. (see other covid FAQs) During check-out, you will be asked to pay a Mexican tax (it's like $5 or less, I think), this is for all transactions and is not paid as part of your reservation – I do not understand why...

Question

FLIGHTS: When should I book?

Answer

Alecia has sent friendly reminder emails to do this as soon as possible. For the best prices, generally, book flights on Tuesdays, 2-5 months before the date you are traveling. Use an app called Hopper to identify good times to buy so you don’t pay thousands of dollars because the prices are fluctuating a lot because of covid :( Direct Flights to Cancun from these locations: Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore (BWI, 4 hrs), Boston, Charlotte, Chicago (ORD and MDW, 4 hrs), Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale (FLL and MIA, 2 hrs), Houston, Los Angeles (LAX, 4.5 hrs), Miami, Minneapolis, NYC, Orlando, Phoenix, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington, DC (IAD, 4hrs) ***Be sure to book your airport transportation immediately after booking your flights.*** (see next Q&A for details)

Question

AIRPORT TRANSFER: What do I need to know about the airport transfer?

Answer

LAST DAY to book it is Feb 22nd ROUNDTRIP: Shared van is $43 per person so $301 for 7 people OR private shuttle is only $132 for up to 7 people OR luxury shuttle is $214 for up to 7 people SINGLE DIRECTION: Private van $79 so $158 per van for up to 7 people ***Coordinate shared vehicles using the google doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Hjcr0Qfd3z1QG-sO-2raq9ZpKVY9dXc0Ydbn3TXt9hA/edit?usp=sharing For shared services, they will have a list of all resort and wedding guests. They'll try to put you together. Beware, the airport has 4 terminals so if your friends arrive at the same time but in a different terminal, you would all need to move to the same terminal to share the private van because the vans do not commute between terminals. If you do not book through the resort, you can grab a taxi at the airport, but it's really hectic and it will likely be more expensive. You can haggle with them–they expect it. *reminder: use a CC that doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees

Question

Answer

It's not required to book through the resort, but it's easier. 1: Type 'El Dorado Casitas Royale' in the Hotel field under the Transportation Tab 2: Enter Arrival and Departure dates and number of Adults 3: Click 'Search' 4: Select the van you want (see other FAQ above for more info) 5: Click 'Book' 6: Click 'Continue' IF you see the van selected on this page 7: Fill out the form with the purchasers information, flight information, and passengers on this purchase 8: Fill out this next form with your payment information 9: Get an automated email confirmation from "notificaciones@mitec.com.mx" Coordinate shared vehicles using this google doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Hjcr0Qfd3z1QG-sO-2raq9ZpKVY9dXc0Ydbn3TXt9hA/edit?usp=sharing For any issues or changes, you can contact Nicole Adams (hello@dreamday.com.mx). She'll need your operation number and she'll need to know you're with the Lewis-Manganaris Wedding.

Question

ACTIVITIES: What can I do at the resort OR nearby?

Answer

EACH ROOM GETS $100 WINE credit, $100 MASSAGE credit, & a $50 towards a private candle lit dinner. *Book with your personal concierge. AT THE RESORT: Download the resort's app (GA El Dorado Royale) for their activity schedule + dining/room service menus. They offer tequila & mezcal tastings, pool & sand volleyball, Spanish & dance lessons, archery & rifle shooting, bike tours, yoga, aqua aerobics, various shows/bands, & more! If you want to bring pool games for the Enclave, please do! *If you are not hanging out by the Enclave 29 pool (in the Casitas) with everyone, grab a pool chair early–they fill up fast. OFF THE RESORT: Take a ~25min taxi to Playa del Carmen (~$40) – Shop on 5th Ave (Quinta Avenida) & try Ah Cacao Chocolate Cafe. The 3 part Cenotes tour is awesome (jump/zip-line off a cliff, swim in a cave, snorkel through tropical fish), OR see Mayan Ruins or swim with dolphins, etc. *Don't eat uncooked food or drink tap water if you are not at the resort & mind your valuables.

Question

FOOD: Where and when to go?

Answer

Breakfast: Health Bar for great juices/smoothies, Cocotal Lunch: The pizza and taco place by the main pool Dinner: Sante Fe Grill, Kampai, and I heard good things about D' Italia Casitas, and at Fuentes-Culinary Theatre (you watch a chef make your food) *Make dinner reservations because the restaurants fill up quickly. *There is a Starbucks at the resort, but it is not included in the all-inclusive. *Ask, at check-in, for them to restock your room mini-bar with extra bottled water everyday. They only give you 2 and it takes forever to get them otherwise. Make sure you have a bottle opener when you check-in too - the water is bottled in glass bottles so you'll need it. *AVOID: soy sauce is citrus-y at Jade - don't recommend

Question

COVID-19: What's important to know?

Answer

- Wear N95 masks at the airport/on the plane - You DO NOT need to get tested to go to Mexico - You DO need a negative test to RETURN to the U.S. Covid tests are free at the resort. They'll provide a QR Code link to schedule it at check-in. Results must be no more than 1 DAY before departure. I think you'll get a QR code in an email to be scanned at the airport - IF YOU HAVE HAD COVID within 90 days of travel, BRING proof of your positive PCR test AND a letter from a healthcare provider clearing you to travel so you can avoid taking a PCR test in Mexico. You can upload docs to airline app while there - If you test positive, do not go anywhere! Call the front desk to let them know. A room will be offered to you at a 50% discount to quarantine in for up to 14 nights and you will have a limited room service menu. Link to schedule test in Mexico: https://www.costamed.com.mx/en/covid-19/grupo-karisma CDC guidelines: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices/covid-3/coronavirus-mexico#unvax

Question

RETURNING TO THE U.S.: What should I expect to do after landing in the U.S.?

Answer

Read covid-19 FAQ above! Complete a CBP Declaration Form 6059B – Form will be passed out by the airline OR you can print it and fill it out in advance if you do not plan on bringing back more than $800 of stuff. Form asks for Name, DoB, Hotel Name and address, Passport details, Airline flight number, and it asks if you are bringing anything home including food, livestock, currency, and or commercial merchandise. It asks how much those goods are valued at because IF they are more than $10,000 because, if so, you’ll be required to report it with Customs. If it is less than $800 then no duty/tax needs to be paid so this form is more of a formality for all of us. Link to form: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-go/what-expect-when-you-return *you must download it then open the downloaded file-preview doesn’t work

Question

AVOID: What should I not do in Mexico?

Answer

- Don't drink tap water or eat ice, salads, or any uncooked food from anywhere OFF of the resort (Stick to bottled water) - Don't pack or flash your valuables and use the safes in your room - Don't take a taxi at the airport (book from the link on the Travel page - discounted price without the headache or risk) - Don't exchange money at the airport (get a better rate for your money outside of the airport) - Don't buy things at the listed price if you go downtown to Playa del Carmen (haggle for a better price on food and souvenirs) - Don't book tours from stand-alone tour guides bc they may be scams (book through the resort) Travel Advisories: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories/mexico-travel-advisory.html

Question

GUESTS: Am I invited?

Answer

We are trying our very best to include everyone; however, we are also trying to stay under 110 guests because the Resort has a Palapa that we would love to have our reception at. That said, we're sending invitations in waves and hoping people will RSVP quickly so we can fit the max number of people in as soon as possible! Please know that no matter what, we do freaking LOVE you! And even if we can't include you in our big day - we will definitely be cheers-ing to you still! NOTE: All wedding communications are digital. Invitations are designed, coded, and sent out by the Bride.

Question

GUESTS: Do I get a plus one?

Answer

We understand solo travel is hard/boring so we are trying our best to give everyone a plus one! We ask that you let us know in your RSVP so we have the exact head count for all of the events. For those who don't know, the headcount is critical for planning so it is critical to be accurate!

Question

GUESTS: Are my kids invited?

Answer

We love your kids—we really do! But we also want our wedding to be your night off to celebrate :) Also, El Dorado Royale and Casitas are adults only. If this is a problem, please let us know and we can work with you.

Question

Why 3-11-22 in Mexico?

Answer

We decided on this date because Sam proposed on 11-22-19 and we were looking at weekends in March because March is a great month to visit Mexico. We went with Mexico so the travel logistics would be easiest for our guests - we want all of you to enjoy this trip! We also attended a wedding in Mexico a few years ago and had a blast, so we're hoping our resort is as awesome as theirs was - shout out to Andrea and Michael Greenwald for paving the way!

Question

Do you have a hashtag?

Answer

#EatDrinkManganaried Obviously, it's a play on 'Eat, Drink, and Be Merry', or as other couples have said, 'Eat, Drink, and be Married'; except, for us, it means, we'll all be at a resort in Mexico for their bottomless menus and drinks, so we'll be having all we can Eat and Drink while we get Manganaried! ;) Pro Tip: 'Copy' it beforehand so you can 'Paste' it into your post; otherwise, we know everyone will be misspelling Manganaried ha!
