Alecia and Sam met in the summer of 2013. Alecia was living in Falls Church, VA after relocating from the Carolina's, when she began planning a ladies’ weekend to Dewey Beach, DE. Meanwhile, in another part of northern Virginia, Sam and his friends decided to take a spur-of-the-moment trip to Dewey as well. From Friday to Sunday morning Alecia and Sam drank, swam, and played at the beach without ever crossing paths, until a fateful morning booze run passed a local pizza place and the story began. After their chance encounter in front of a pizza place, an impromptu volleyball game ensued. Things became so heated and intense that the volleyball was destroyed in the competition. Perhaps the sparks were already flying ;) Shortly after, the beach shifted to the beer pong table and then to the dance floor. What started as a chance encounter led to an all day and night adventure culminating in an outdoor dance party in the rain. They made a promise to not only hang out again soon but to wear capes in public… which they did the following weekend! Since then, the costumes, the trips, and the memories continue as they journey through life together.
2019 was a busy year for Alecia and Sam… moving, job changes, and international trips to Africa… and that was just the first half! However, there was more in store for the happy couple. With the Enchant Christmas festival in National's Park, Sam surprised Alecia on what she was expecting to be a typical Friday date night that transitioned into a fun evening of food, shopping, and Christmas festivities. While they were strolling through the largest Christmas light maze ever constructed searching for Santa's reindeer Alecia found something more, Sam got down on one knee at the center of the maze under the light of a giant silver snowflake and popped the question… Alecia said YES! Celebration and pictures ensued! Since then, Alecia and Sam have eschewed the usual social media approach, and opted to tell friends and family in person and now (after much preparation by Alecia and even more procrastination by Sam) they are happy to share their plans for an exciting destination wedding!
