We met in December 2016 when Kyle was visiting his sister, who lived in Washington D.C. at the time. While Kelsey was busy, Kyle was perusing the dating apps and we happened to match on Tinder and start chatting. We went to the Zoolights at the National Zoo and while we had a great time, Ryland didn't think she'd ever see Kyle again. But after he got back to Michigan, we kept texting, which led to Facetime calls, which led to a second visit to DC and many more trips to visit each other over the course of a year, after which Kyle moved to DC and we started our life together here. We're so excited for you to celebrate with us in our adopted home!
We spent the holidays together in DC in 2020 due to COVID-19, and while we had a wonderful Christmas, we were missing our families and friends. Kyle said he would plan a fun date for New Year's Eve, and convinced Ryland to get dressed up for a fancy meal at home from one of our favorite restaurants before surprising her by renting out an entire movie theater after Ryland said she had been missing going to the movies. After we got in our seats, we were surprised again by a handful of friends who Kyle had secretly invited to join us. Somehow, Ryland still had no idea what was happening and Kyle managed to sit through 2 hours and 31 minutes of Wonder Woman 1984 - the plot of which he barely remembers now - and popped the question after the lights went up, surrounded by our friends. We popped champagne in the parking lot and kicked off the new year in the best way possible!
