We come from very different cultures, yet we have much in common. We grew up speaking different languages, yet we understand each other on a deep level. We study in different fields, yet we learn much from each other. Both of us came to Manhattan in journeys that involved many challenges, joys, and learning experiences. Along the way, we both experienced the tragedy of divorce and the joys of having children. We both put a high value on education and caring for others. And, most importantly, we have both come to place our faith in Jesus Christ. Which is how we met... Our dear friends Terry and Robbin Cole host a Bible study for international students at their home every Sunday. For Robert, this time of fellowship and family time was like the bread of life. Meanwhile, Wanphen had made many Christian friends during her months here as a visiting scholar from Thailand. A sweet soul helped her find her apartment not long after she arrived in September 2016. Cru's Conversation Cafe, Helping International Students (HIS), and especially Christian Challenge - all these ministries showed her love, helped her learn about Jesus, and filled her heart in a way she had never experienced before. So, on March 5th, 2017, Wanphen decided to go to the Bible study at Terry's house. We met when Robert was asked to give Wanphen a ride. Right away, we enjoyed an unusual warmth and connection. A few weeks later, Wanphen was invited by her Christian Challenge friends to attend Summit camp in Colorado over Spring Break. Surrounded every day by believers, learning every day about the Bible, enjoying God's beauty - Wanphen gave her life to Christ at that camp. After Wanphen got back from Summit, as we talked about her experience, we just bonded. It wasn't long after this that we made a covenant commitment to each other, which we affirmed in a civil marriage ceremony on 12/18/17. And now we invite YOU to join in a blessing ceremony to celebrate our wedding.
