Kirsten made the first move after the two of them swiped right on each other on Bumble. The pair bonded over their mutual intense love for ice cream. They planned to meet at Salt and Straw in San Francisco for ice cream before dinner (a life principle they still adhere to today), but Kirsten had to postpone by an hour due to a work emergency, and Richard agreed. Already running late, Kirsten rushed home to walk Murphy and called a Lyft to Salt and Straw. As she pulled up, she didn’t see Richard, and she immediately realized she was at the wrong Salt and Straw - there’s two across the city. Instead of being 10 minutes late, she was now 30 minutes late. Richard being the kind soul he is didn’t cancel and waited patiently for his very late date to show up. Though he marked her down 10 points in his internal judgement of her, her smile and laugh made him think twice. They had ice cream then dinner, and talked all night at Patricia’s Green. They had such a great time just talking that Kirsten lost track of time and had to ask her roommate to let Murphy out for his evening walk. The two have been inseparable since!
