It is a 15 hour drive to Bar Harbor from Columbus. If you want to drive, we do recommend making a trip of it and stopping in Boston, MA, and Portland, ME. There is tons of coastal town charm on the drive from Boston to Bar Harbor. If you'd like to fly, we recommend flying into Bangor, ME, and renting a car. There are roundtrip flights available for about $300 last we checked. You will need a car to get around, as it's a National Park! The drive from Bangor to Bar Harbor is about an hour. We definitely recommend carpooling and sharing with friends and family! Once you are there, you wouldn't need the car to get around Bar Harbor itself; just the National Park. Bar Harbor is extremely walkable.
Coastal semi-formal! Ladies, feel free to wear dresses or dress pants; whatever you are comfortable in. Men, button up shirts are preferred but suits are not required. For the sunset cruise, please bring a jacket. The ceremony is outside on a lawn while the reception is indoors (located right next to one another). Maine in August is extremely temperate, the typical daily temperature being 75 degrees, and nightly low around 55. It is very frequently sunny this time of year with a light breeze as we are right on the oceanfront.
The weather is gorgeous in Bar Harbor this time of year. In late August, the highs range from 65-80 degrees, very rarely reaching 80, and the lows at night are around 55-60. It does tend to be a bit windy as it's right on the ocean, so we recommend a light jacket. The ceremony will be held outside and the reception will be held inside. There will be a sunset cruise afterwards, so it will get a little chillier as the sun goes down!
You certainly do not! There are plenty of great options in Bar Harbor and the surrounding areas if you need to stay somewhere more in your price range. The town is incredibly walkable, no more than a mile to any place in town.
After speaking with many friends and family members about the subject, we have decided the make our wedding 12 and up. We really want this feel like a vacation, especially for the parents! Thank you for understanding.
We ask that you refrain from taking any photos during the ceremony, as we have hired a wonderful photographer who will capture the moment best. We want you to be fully in the moment with us as well! You may take photos any other time.
There will be no plus ones unless specified on invitations. We plan to invite everyone's partners, but we are limited as we plan to keep the wedding intimate.
