How We Met

Rebecca and Nick met in physics class and now you could say they’re on the perfect wavelength. You could also say they have some history together, as we go back to Fall of 2015. HIST 1400: Modern Western Traditions. A lecture of approximately 150 undergraduate Huskies in the Arjona building, narrowed down to a discussion class of 40 that was housed in the Business School at the UConn Storrs Campus. This is where the two passed each other day after day, likely answering and debating each other during discussion with barely even a memory or picture to show. Fast forward a year to Fall of 2016. Nick waited patiently in his physics lab sitting across from another student with one open seat next to the two of them. In typical Rebecca fashion, adorned with a walking boot, she burst in 2 minutes late through the back door of physics lab and took the first open seat, next to a smart looking option for a lab partner to her left and a handsome looking guy to her right, whose backpack athlete tag seemed to read “Rick”. This lab had been one that Rebecca switched into quite last minute as her sorority sisters had given her advice to switch from a Monday lab to one later in the week just in case there was a pop quiz on Monday, so you could hear about it and be prepared. This last minute switch and late arrival ended up sparking many lunch dates, study breaks, an unbreakable love for UConn, and years of memories made with even more to come. Multiple microscope gazes to study the wavelengths of light through refraction in a prism, the rhythmic observation of the conservation of energy, and so many more lessons lit the spark between the two that continues on and leads us to the upcoming unification of two people deep in love. Refraction showed us that love bends the rules of physics and opened our eyes to the beautiful spectrum of colors that can illuminate the world if you dare to dive deep into love.
