Haldi Ceremony & Luncheon

Sage Green / Yellow Indian formal wear recommended. For men: kurta pajamas, nehru suits, etc. For women: saris, lehengha sets, salwar suits, anarkalis, etc. Western formal (dresses for women, collared shirt + trousers for men) is also appropriate.

The Haldi Ceremony is a vibrant pre-wedding ritual where friends and family gather to apply turmeric (haldi) paste to the bride and groom's faces and bodies in a very festive atmosphere. The applying of the haldi symbolizes purification, and gives the bride and groom a beautiful glow. We recommend bringing a jacket or coat as Lake Tahoe temperatures can range from the mid 40s to the mid 50s (7-13C) this time of year. Lunch will be served. Sangeet

5:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Sunset Palette (warm oranges, reds, pinks, purples, gold, coral) Indian formal recommended. Western cocktail wear also appropriate.

A night of music and dancing, at 7000ft no less! The Sangeet, meaning "sung together" in Sanskrit, is the pre-wedding celebration of music and dancing (plenty choreographed as well) to break the ice between families and friends and build the festive atmosphere before the wedding. Please note that a portion of the celebration will take place outdoors. We recommend bringing a jacket or coat as Tahoe temperatures can range from the mid 40s to 50s. Dinner will be served. Please note: There is no parking available at the Sangeet. All guests must take the provided shuttles unless pre-approved. If you miss the Shuttle, we encourage you to take an Uber or request a driver from the Ritz-Carlton lobby. Shuttles (from Ritz & Northstar): Pick-Up: 4:15 PM (If you cannot make 4:15, then there is a delayed shuttle at 5:45, but we strongly suggest the 4:15 to make the most of the event.) The Wedding Ceremony or "Vivah" in Sanskrit, is the traditional Hindu marriage ceremony. It is centered on seven sacred vows the couple will take while walking around a sacred fire seven times (also called the "Saptapadi" meaning seven steps, or "Pheras" meaning walks around), symbolizing their unity and lifetime commitment. Please note that this portion of the celebration will take place outdoors. We recommend bringing a jacket or coat as Tahoe temperatures can range from the mid 40s to 50s. Lunch will be served.
