Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Rachel Hall and Joseph Kitaen
Hi friends! We are so excited to celebrate with you in one of our favorite places! We’ve always loved the charm of North County San Diego—sunny beaches, cozy coastal towns, amazing local markets and, of course, plenty of surf. Joe & Rachel love these beaches and the sunset beach walks are a dream (especially to Rachel). We can’t wait for you to experience the magic of this area! Our wedding in this little corner of California is the perfect excuse to turn the weekend into a San Diego staycation—whether that means beach-hopping, wine tasting, exploring, or simply relaxing. Here are some of our favorite spots to check out while you’re here!

💡 Joe & Rachel’s Tip:

North County is all about relaxed vibes, so don’t over-schedule — pick a couple of activities and leave room for spontaneous ice cream runs, beach walks, and sunset stops.

🏖 Carlsbad

Carlsbad Village – Grab a latte, wander through boutiques, and leave with something you didn’t know you needed. Tamarack & South Ponto Beaches – Perfect spots for beach naps or watching the sun dip into the ocean. Carlsbad Premium Outlets – Shop, then shop some more. LEGOLAND California – For the kids…or the kids-at-heart.

🌅 Encinitas

Moonlight State Beach – Volleyball, fire pits, and plenty of sand to go around. Swami’s Beach – Legendary surf break + tide pooling at low tide. San Diego Botanic Garden – A peaceful little escape if you need a break from wine and waves. Downtown Encinitas – Vintage shops, smoothie bars, and amazing tacos all within a few blocks (highly recommend The Taco Stand!)

🌊 Oceanside

Oceanside Pier – Stroll, people-watch, maybe spot dolphins. Bonus points if you grab an ice cream on the way. Oceanside Harbor – Rent a paddleboard or kayak, or just chill with fish tacos by the water. California Surf Museum – For a quick hit of surf culture. Thursday Sunset Market – Live music, food stalls, and that small-town-meets-beach-town vibe.

🍇 Temecula

Wine Hopping – Wilson Creek (almond champagne = yes please), Ponte Winery (gorgeous views), and Europa Village (three wineries in one stop!). Old Town Temecula – Wooden sidewalks, cute shops, and some seriously good margaritas. Temecula Olive Oil Company – Free tastings + souvenirs you’ll actually want.

🎲 Pala Casino & Nearby

Pala Casino Spa & Resort – Test your luck, catch a show, or treat yourself to a spa day. Palomar Mountain State Park – Stunning hikes and views that make you forget you’re only an hour from the beach. Cougar Vineyard & Winery – Because you can never have too much wine country in your weekend.
