It's all in the name, Whiskey & Ramen. Excellent quality cocktails as well as several different variations of Ramen that are all amazing. "We recommend reservations for larger parties or those wanting to sit at a table in the main dining room. Our seats at the Ramen Counter and in the Whisky Bar are predominantly reserved for walk-ins. We try to seat as many walk-ins as possible without compromising service."
49th State’s downtown Anchorage brewpub was acquired at the end of 2015 and opened july 4th, 2016. Originally an Elk’s Lodge building built in 1917, it grew over the decades into a local social club. The three story property located on the water with a view of the Alaska range hosted a private bar, dining area, bowling lanes, and ballroom which made it the gathering place in Anchorage. In 1996, Snow Goose Restaurant and Sleeping Lady Brewing Co took ownership and transformed it into a brewery and commercial restaurant that fit right in with Alaska’s great tradition of brewing.
Moose’s Tooth, founded in 1996, serves pizza and Broken Tooth Brewing beer (with a side of tie-dye). We strive to offer a truly gourmet pizza experience, focusing on creative, high quality food in a casual environment. If you’ve seen the reviews, you know: Come prepared to grab a pint and wait for a table. This place is hoppin’!
There are multiple breweries and distilleries in Anchorage. Take a guided group tour, or a self guided tour through Anchorage, or venture out to the Mat-Su Valley where there are even more breweries! Anchorage Distillery, Brewerks, Bleeding Heart, King Street, Matanuska Brewing, BearTooth, and Midnight Sun are just a few of our favorite stops!
Prefer something other than beer? This is your place! Our beautiful and spacious tap rooms in two Alaska locations have a great vibe with hand-made tables perfect for groups or sharing with others. In addition to Alaska-made hard ciders, we have food trucks out front daily and locally-made snacks and non-alcoholic drinks available inside. Our year-round outdoor patios are the perfect place to enjoy a nice cider with friends in the great outdoors. Friendly dogs and kids are welcome (with a parent or legal guardian). We even have baby-changing station to keep your little ones so fresh and so clean.
The Tony Knowles Coastal Trail follows the shore of Cook Inlet from Downtown Anchorage to Kincaid Park. Running along coastal marshes, over forested hills, and passing one of the most dramatically altered landscapes of Anchorage, the trail is perfect for biking, walking, and even wildlife viewing. It’s not unusual to pass eagles or moose along the way.
Located about 90 miles south of Girdwood, approximately 1.5-2hours is Seward! One of our favorite places to visit and a must do to see the scenic Seward Highway. Take a day trip here. There is a multitude of charters, tours, hikes, glacier guides, and other coast activities to partake in!
Our signature flightseeing and glacier landing tour, available in three different versions. All tours include a glacier landing right in the middle of Knik Glacier, where you can get out of the helicopter and spend about 30 minutes exploring ice thousands of years old with your pilot/guide. See the azure blue melt pools, crevasses, and the bizarre ice formations created by water, wind, and the sun. (summer) * Tours departing from the Knik River Valley base have transfers available from select Anchorage locations for an additional fee. Transfers are round trip for all summer departure times. The transfers can be booked online when you book your tour. Please refer to our FAQs page for detailed pickup information, or contact us for more information.
Potter Marsh, at the southern end of the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge, is an ideal break from Anchorage for birders and other wildlife viewers. From the Seward Highway just before the left turn into the Potter Marsh parking lot, you are treated to a stunning view of Turnagain Arm. A wooden boardwalk winds 1,550 feet from the parking area through the marsh and across watery openings and sedges, perfect habitat for a rich variety of birds.
The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a sanctuary dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife through conservation, education, research, and quality animal care. AWCC takes in injured and orphaned animals year-round and provides them with spacious enclosures and quality animal care. Most of the animals that arrive at the AWCC become permanent residents and will always have a home here. The Center maintains over 200 acres of spacious habitats for animals to feel at home and display their natural wild behavior. Visitors may see brown bears cooling off in the water, a bull moose strutting, wood bison roaming on pastures and more.
Rushing along at speeds of up to 24 miles per hour, tidal bores are an unusual, unforgettable sight in Southcental Alaska. A unique combination of hydrology and geography forms these waves. Cook Inlet has a huge tidal range, and it’s the only place in the U.S. where such a bore tide forms. These extreme tides hit the narrow, shallow and gently sloping floor of Turnagain Arm. Rapidly rising tidewaters are forced up, forming a raised front. Depending on conditions, the bore can be up to 6 feet tall.
The Alaska SeaLife Center is the only facility in Alaska that combines a public aquarium with marine research, education, and wildlife response. While primarily dedicated to marine research and education, the nonprofit Center is the only permanent marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation facility in the state.
