FAQs

The Wedding Website of Danielle Poiesz and Brian Luby
“Most misunderstandings in the world could be avoided if people would simply take the time to ask, "What else could this mean?” - Shannon L. Alder ----------------------------- We've pulled together a list of FAQs that will hopefully make your lives a little easier. However, if you have any questions that aren't listed here or anywhere else on our website, please feel free to e-mail us at poieszlubywedding@gmail.com and we can answer any questions you may have.
Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. We suggest, however, that guests arrive 10-15 minutes prior to that time to grab some complimentary bubbly, mingle, and get yourself situated.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Cocktail attire is required for the ceremony and reception. Black-tie is not necessary, but leaving the jeans, sneakers, T-shirts, and other casual attire at home is!

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

As much as we would love to let everyone bring a guest, please only bring one if your Save-the-Date and invitation say "and guest" on the envelope. If not, please just bring your lovely self.

Question

Can I bring my child/children to the wedding?

Answer

While we love kids and we love you all, we have decided not to have children at our wedding (with only a few exceptions). If your kids are one of those exceptions, their names will appear on the envelope of your Save-the-Date and your invitation. If your child's name does not appear on your invitation and it's a major issue for you not to bring your child, please reach out to us directly, either at poieszlubywedding@gmail.com or by phone, if you already have one of our numbers. We can't guarantee we will be able to accommodate your request, but we are open to discussing your concerns and going from there.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Yes, please see the "Travel & Accommodations" page on the website for hotel options, including our room block at the Courtyard Marriott in Basking Ridge, NJ. All the details about the room block are listed there, as well, in addition to some general travel information.

Question

Is there parking available at the venue?

Answer

Yes. There are both free self-parking and complimentary valet parking options at the venue. Please see the "Travel & Accommodations" page on our website for more information.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels and the venue?

Answer

The Courtyard Marriott will be providing shuttle services to and from the venue for guests who reserve rooms in our room block ONLY. Shuttle times will be determined closer to the event. If you stay elsewhere, live in the area, would like to leave earlier/later than the shuttle times, or are planning to partake in any adult beverages, Lyft and Uber are two great options.

Question

Is there a cash bar?

Answer

Nope! All beverages will be complimentary. Please feel free to bring a little something to tip your bartenders, though, if you feel so inclined. There is also a bar across the parking lot from the Lodge at the Stone House restaurant if you arrive early and would like a drink. (You will have to pay for that one!) However, bubbly will be offered to all guests over 21 prior to the ceremony.

Question

Will there be assigned seating for either the ceremony or reception?

Answer

For the ceremony, please feel free to sit wherever! We are not sticking to the whole "bride side and groom side" tradition and would love if you would all mix it up a bit. We're merging two lives, after all, so you are all our family and friends and would love for you to get to know one another. The only people who will have assigned seats at the ceremony are the wedding party and our parents/grandparents. These seats will be marked with reserved signs, so just don't sit there if your name is not on the sign. (Obviously.) There will be assigned seating for the reception, though. You will be able to find out what table you are at by your escort card, which will be set up in the cocktail lounge for you. So grab your card and a drink, and start the celebration! When the reception begins, your table will be clearly marked in the Lodge, as well as your individual seat.

Question

I don't see any food options to choose from on the website or on my invitation. Will there be food at the wedding?

Answer

Yes! We love food, and it will absolutely be part of the event. In fact, the venue is known for its farm-to-table dishes, so plan for it to be delicious! There will be hors d'oeuvres passed around and food stations open during cocktail hour, followed by a sit-down dinner during the reception. You will select what you'd like for dinner from the menu options provided to you at your table. And before you ask, yes, there will be a vegetarian option included. ;)

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Please do let us know if you have a food allergy, and we will reach out to the venue to let them know and see what we can do for your unique situation.

Question

Can I take pictures and/or post photos of your wedding on social media?

Answer

Yes and no. You are more than welcome to take photos during the reception and tag them on social media using our hashtag, #PoieszedToBeALuby. However, we ask that you turn off your phones and put away your cameras during the ceremony. Not only do we have an awesome photographer who will be taking photos, which we promise we will share with you later, but we would like you, our friends and family, to be present and share this special moment with us.

Question

Will there be music/dancing? Can guests make song requests?

Answer

Of course there will be music and dancing! There will be an acoustic guitarist during the ceremony, a jazz duo during cocktail hour, and a full band at the reception. So bring your dancing shoes and get ready for some awesome music! But, no, you cannot make song requests. The band will be sticking to a set list that will be approved by us. It will be good, we promise!

Question

You're having a winter wedding. What happens if it snows?

Answer

The wedding will happen snow or shine unless the police deem it unsafe and require the venue to close. If this does happen--but please send positive vibes that it WON'T; it's incredibly rare!--we will reach out to you all individually as soon as we receive the news and Danielle stops crying. The wedding would then be rescheduled, and we would contact you with details. Should this occur, we hope you will be able to join us on the rescheduled date, but we do understand if you are unable to do so.

Question

Since the wedding is in January in New Jersey, is it safe to assume it will take place indoors?

Answer

Yes. The venue will be warm, dry, and cozy for the ceremony and reception! There is, however, a balcony in the cocktail lounge and an outdoor patio attached to the reception venue where guests can hang out by heat lamps and get some fresh air. There will also be fire pits on the patio, and after dinner, all the fixins for S'mores, as well as a hot cocoa bar, will be provided.

Question

Oh, there IS an outdoor area? Can I smoke there?

Answer

Sorry, but no. Our wedding is one-hundred-percent smoke-free, and we ask that you please respect our decision to prohibit smoking of any kind, including vaping. Should you want to do these things, we request that you go across the parking lot to stand outside the Stone House restaurant, where there are ashtray stands available, until you are done.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Other than the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, which are for the wedding party and our parents/grandparents only, there are no official events other than the wedding itself on Saturday. We will, however, be hanging out in the Bistro at the Courtyard Marriott in Basking Ridge the morning after the wedding for anyone who wants to swing by and say hello. Breakfast is available there for purchase.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

We actually used Zola.com for EVERYTHING. If you'd like to gift us something, you can access it easily by clicking on "Registry" in the menu bar of our website. Zola also offers free shipping for those of you who decide to order through our registry directly, and they have our address on file. If you'd prefer to purchase something from our list at a store, you are welcome to do so, but please consider going back to the registry online to mark the gift you purchased as, well, purchased. Otherwise, we might end up with eight blenders. We like smoothies, but not THAT much!

Question

I'm sorry, but how on Earth do you pronounce your last names?

Answer

Yeah, we get this one a lot, especially since correct pronunciation is necessary to understanding our wedding hashtag! So let's keep it simple and clear: "Poiesz" = "poise" like “noise” and "Luby" = "Luby” like “ruby.”
