Kelly and Phil met at a mutual friend's bike bar birthday party. Phil was given a hint that Kelly likes to ski which led to the infamous opening line, "Hey, I hear you like to ski". At the end of the night, Phil offered to Uber with Kelly home where she proceeded to fall asleep in the car and leave her iPhone. Lucky for Kelly, Phil isn’t a murderer. Lucky for Phil, he had the perfect excuse to meet up the next day and ask for Kelly’s digits and a first date. The rest is history...
It was supposed to be another weekend ski trip with friends, but little did Kelly know it would be one she would never forget. In the midst of the biggest winter storm of 2020, Phil decided to pop the question on top of Blue Sky Basin in Vail, Colorado. While Kelly thought they were just taking pictures by a Snowcat, it was really setting the stage for Phil to drop to a knee. Kelly was so shocked she had to clarify that Phil was actually proposing! After a few tears of excitement and joy, Kelly said yes! Champagne was popped on top of the mountain and the celebration continued with dinner at a private yurt in Silverthorne.
The mountains are calling! Our first connection was about skiing and our mutual love for the Colorado mountains. It only made sense that we get married in our favorite mountain range of them all, the San Juan's! Eureka Lodge is a truly magical and unique place. It charmed us immediately! This secluded spot is located 8 miles north of Silverton at nearly 10,000 feet elevation. The road turns to dirt as you leave civilization (and cell phone service) and venture towards 4x4 roads, abandoned mines, and tree line. The lodge was built in the 1920's as a miners boarding hotel and has been wonderfully preserved since to take us back in time. It's rustic, remote, and full of history. We can't wait to party among the pines with all of you.
