I went to the bar that night with my sister Allie, and her then boyfriend, Joe. Pretty typical. (You’re saints!) While waiting for ID check, two Tall, Dark & Handsome’s got in line behind us. They were stopped and I hoped they wouldn’t get impatient and go elsewhere! As we walked in, in a stroke of good luck, a few patrons were getting up from their bar stools and we snagged a spot bellied up to the bar. A few minutes later I spotted Mr. Big Brown Eyes trying to squeeze his way in to grab a pint. I tried to catch his eye to give him a nod of you can grab the bartenders attention from our spot, but he got in elsewhere. Joe, noticing my body language, struck up a conversation with Brian, and true to his own nature, Brian engaged in convo right away, even offering a taste of his brew. After a few minutes, they even realized they spent a year in the same (small!) high school! Brian came back around, and (surprise), struck up a convo again. Allie and I jumped in a bit, but Bri seemed most interested in bro time. He mentioned an ex, but not a current girlfriend. He sat back down to his table of boys. Soon a friend arrived so we decided to move on to the next bar. I walked outside and the guy we were meeting was on a bit of a negative rant, and I thought back to how happy and positive that other guy had seemed. We stood on the sidewalk listening. “I left something inside the bar,” I told them. Turned on my heel, walked back in, and over to his table. “We’re leaving now…” Brian looked up at me. “Cool! Where you going?” “Carriage House, I think?” Brian responded “Aw, right on.” “Ok, then…bye…” *I stood there awkwardly for what felt like a century but was probably 1.5 seconds* Brian: “Who was that guy you were with?” “That was my sister’s boyfriend…” *BRI STANDS UP IMMEDIATELY, TAKING HIS PHONE OUT OF HIS POCKET* “HEY THESE ARE MY FRIENDS! CAN I HAVE YOUR NUMBER? WHAT ARE YOU DOING NEXT WEDNESDAY?!” … The rest is kinda history 😊
If you’ve heard about our wedding plans you know that it will be a bit less traditional than most weddings. We’ve created this website to fully explain everything that will be happening on our wedding weekend and what to expect. This website will help you to RSVP/Book your cabin, find our Registry, and learn all about this epic weekend. We have arranged for the exclusive use of Camp Canadensis, a summer camp located on 1,000 acres in the beautiful Pocono Mountains and have planned an entire weekend of fun for our family and friends. We would love nothing more than for our guests to join us for this weekend-long celebration. Cabin stay includes cabin lodging Saturday (2pm check in)-Monday (12pm check-out), all meals/alcohol, and access to all available camp activities. Together with our families, we are covering the cost of everyone to stay in the bunks and enjoy activities all day every day, and we are hoping you are able to spend the whole weekend enjoying our celebration. That said, we will share some sleeping alternatives for those who choose not to join us for the sleepover portion of the weekend. (Boooo! Ha-ha.) Our exclusive access to the camp means you can fill your weekend with all kinds of activities like kayaking, volleyball, rock-wall climbing, archery, arts & crafts, a waterfall hike and everything else you missed from not being sent to camp as a child (a.k.a. summer camp for grown ups).
We encourage you to pack as if you are going to sleepaway camp but here is a checklist of things to remember to bring to be ready for a weekend at camp. Below we have listed some essentials you may forget. If you forget any items we will have a “Camp Supply Station” located in the middle level of the Lake Deck to provide you with anything you forget. There will also be some extra snacks and beverages in there as well, and feel free to bring your own favorites also! All of the cabins and buildings have electricity and outlets for charging devices. On this list we have included “beach/camping chairs” because most cabins have nice porches that overlook the lake and for lounging around the beach, pool and bonfire. There are some other items that are not requirements, just suggestions. We are also hoping the heated pool will be open but the camp is not yet promising this. Yoga Mat (if you plan to do yoga on Saturday morning) Fitted & top sheet, blanket, pillow (or sleeping bag!) Extra Blankets Bathing suit/ beach towel (just in case!) Extra Towels Beach/Camping chair **Reusable water bottle** Flashlight Bug spray Advil Sunscreen Hair Dryer Curling Iron Shampoo/ Conditioner Soap Basic toiletries RAIN: Rain Boots, Umbrella, Rain Jacket Any snacks or beverages you may want. There are filtered water stations throughout the camp and we will have snacks and wine/beer for meals and in between, but you’re welcome to bring your own favorite booze if you’d like! (There won’t be bunk inspections.)
