Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Nicole Lim and Paul Howard
In 2023, we visited Italy and fell in love with this magical place! We visited Florence and Rome with day trips to other cities. If you decide to spend some extra time before or after our wedding week extravaganza, here are a few of the things we loved and think you will enjoy them too! Travel Tip: Check out the 5-day combo ticket for Florence on Get Your Guide.
Piazza del Duomo

Piazza del Duomo

Piazza del Duomo, Firenze, Toscana 50122, Italy

We climbed the bell tower, which is not for the faint of heart. There are 414 steps and the stairwell gets narrow, but it's well worth the view! You could also climb the dome of the duomo. Also, you can't miss heading down below the Duomo to see the multiple layers built over time. Highly, recommend booking tickets well in advance.

Mercato Centrale

Mercato Centrale

Piazza del Mercato Centrale, Firenze, Toscana 50123, Italy

Enjoy the local leather market outside, local goods inside as well as some delicious food and drinks upstairs!

Uffizi Galleries

Uffizi Galleries

6 Piazzale degli Uffizi, Firenze, Toscana 50122, Italy

Check out some famous pieces from Alessandro Filipepi like Spring and The Birth of Venus.

Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze

Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze

58 Via Ricasoli, Firenze, Toscana 50129, Italy

Witness the original statue of Michelangelo’s famous David! Highly recommend booking your tickets online ahead of time.

Palazzo Pitti

Palazzo Pitti

1 Piazza de' Pitti, Firenze, Toscana 50125, Italy

Visit the palace that became a symbol of the Medici family's wealth! Explore its grand architecture, lavish interior, and extensive collection of artworks. The Palace is divided into five museums: the Treasury of the Grand Dukes and the Museum of Russian Icons, the Palatine Gallery and the Imperial and Royal Apartments, the Gallery of Modern Art and the Museum of Costume and Fashion. Don't forget to stroll through the Boboli Gardens!

Gelato!

All’Antico Vinaio

All’Antico Vinaio

65r Via dei Neri, Firenze, Toscana 50122, Italy

Saveur Magazin cites All'antico vinaio as “the best sandwiches in the world”! The place is known to millions of visitors to Florence as the place where it is worth queuing to taste one of our schiacciate! Tip, the one at Via dei Neri has a one line for multiple windows, they will direct you to a window when there is space available.

Osteria Pastella

Osteria Pastella

17 R Via della Scala, Firenze, Toscana 50123, Italy

The restaurant prepares typical Tuscan cuisine, as well as the most famous mediterranean recipes. Homemade bread and Pasta NOT TO MISS - Our homemade pasta it’s a MUST, especially our Tagliatelle with Black truffle or aged and salted mullet roe both tossed in Grana Padano cheese wheel. Recommend to make reservations ahead of time so you don't wait in the long queue.

Day Trip to Siena, San Gimignano, and Pisa

Day Trip to Siena, San Gimignano, and Pisa

This day trip is a great way to get a sneak peak at some nearby cities. The inside of Duomo di Siena was more spectacular than the one in Florence, San Gimignano was a charming Tuscan hill town, and of course climbing the Leaning Tower of Pisa!

Galleria Borghese

Galleria Borghese

5 Piazzale Scipione Borghese, Roma, Lazio 00197, Italy

Spend hours marveling at artwork by Bernini and Caravaggio! Our favorite piece is Apollo e Dafne by Bernini. Also spend time exploring the garden full of busts, fountains, landscaping and a fantastic view of the city. Then you can skip on over to the Spanish Steps!

Pantheon

Pantheon

Piazza della Rotonda, Roma, Lazio 00186, Italy

This is the best preserved Ancient Rome monument and contains the tombs of Raphael and several Italian Kings and poets. Check out the Pantheon's giant dome and its oculus! It was the largest in world for 1300 years and remains the largest unsupported dome in the world.

Colosseum

Colosseum

1 Piazza del Colosseo, Roma, Lazio 00184, Italy

We were lucky in 2023 to witness a giant Italian flag and the Frecce Tricolori release smoke of green, white and red above Via del Corso. You can get tickets just to enter or book several different tours to get a guided tour of the Colosseum, the underground, the Roman Forum or with Palatine hill! Recommend booking tickets or a tour ahead of time.

Vatican City

Vatican City

Vatican City, 00120, Vatican

Vatican City, a city-state surrounded by Rome, Italy, is the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church. It's home to the Pope and a trove of iconic art and architecture. Its Vatican Museums house ancient Roman sculptures such as the famed “Laocoön and His Sons” as well as Renaissance frescoes in the Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel, famous for Michelangelo’s ceiling. Recommend booking a tour ahead of time to skip the giant line to get in.

Day Trip to the Amalfi Coast

Day Trip to the Amalfi Coast

We hope to spend more time in the Amalfi Coast in the future. This was a great day trip to get a taste of the Amalfi Coast! This included visiting a lemon farm, wondering around Amalfi and Positano. If you want, you could spend your time dipping into the water, getting custom sandals made, or just enjoying all the delicious food!

For all the days along the way
