The crown jewel of San Miguel, this church was originally built in the 1600s with a traditional Mexican façade. However, Zeferino Gutierrez added a neo-Gothic façade in 1880 inspired by European churches. With its pink sandstone, La Parroquia is one of the most famous churches in Mexico and also a beautiful photograph at sunset.
Situated in the middle of the city and directly in front of La Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel, El Jardin is the town square. Spend time here people watching, listening to wandering mariachis and getting your bearings before exploring the streets that lead away in all directions.
Located directly above Colonia Azteca is El Charco del Ingenio, a botanical garden and natural reserve. Its name comes from a natural pool embedded in the bottom of an imposing glen. Its abundant native species of flora and fauna are appreciated in the thicket, the wetland and the glen. It houses an extensive botanical collection of cacti and other succulent Mexican plants, many of them rare, threatened or in danger of extinction. Consecrated as a Peace Zone by the Dalai Lama.
This is the house where Mexican independence hero Ignacio Allende once lived. The building is also home to the town's history museum, which holds the history of the San Miguel area. Reproductions of the Allende family's furnishings and possessions aim to give an idea of living conditions for the well to do of the period.
Every Saturday and Sunday, organic traders congregate under the shady trees of the gardens next to the Instituto Allende art school. About 40-50 traders come with a large range of beautiful organic produce including breads and cakes, fruit and vegetables, hand-embroidered pillowcases and table cloths, condiments, chocolates, cacti and more.

The Otomi are the indigenous people in the Queretaro region, and the ruins at Cañada de la Virgen are mainly astronomical observatories constructed beginning in 540 AD. Located about 18 miles from SMA, recommended to go with a tour.
