Flight
Ireland has a few, smaller, airports; however, Dublin International Airport is the most popular due to its affordability, ease of connections, and locations you can travel to and from. We recommend starting your journey here.
Train
Should you decide to take the bus from the airport, we recommend using this user friendly website. The total trip from Dublin Airport to the Ballina Bus Station is approx 4 hours. This would give you the opportunity to relax and take in the views of the Irish Countryside. You can book one way or round trip.
Rental Car
There are a few options when it comes to rental cars, especially at the airport. Keep in mind that, though it's more convenient to pick up the rental car at the airport, they do charge and additional fee for that convenience. Roughly $120. If you're going to spend any time in Dublin, we recommend taking a taxi into town. When you're ready to pick up your rental car, go to a location away from the airport.
Rental Car
Some things to keep in mind: 1. You will be driving on the right side of the car and the left side of the road. We recommend that you chose an automatic car. Though it's a little more expensive, it's easier than trying to figure out how to shift while also driving on the opposite side of the road. 2. The roads and cars are slightly smaller than what we're used to here in the states. This mainly comes from trunk space. If you have a large suitcase, make sure you look at how many suitcases the car can hold. Many cars only have room for one large suitcase or 2 small ones. 3. Speak with your insurance provider to see if your insurance covers you overseas. If not, ask which rental insurance they'd recommend. Basic seems to be the favorite. 4. Fill up your car before returning it. It ends up being more affordable than returning it empty. 5. Unless you're planning on setting up an international plan for your phone, we recommend adding a GPS system for your vehicle.

Though most people pick up on driving on the left side of the road quickly, it can seem pretty scary. Here are some tips on preparing yourself for the task. We also recommend, if you can, carpooling with others in the group to cut down on costs.
