Ireland is only requiring a negative PCR test within 72 hours prior to arrival in order to gain access to the country. Once inside, there are no restrictions or proof of vaccinations required to enter any establishments.
We'd appreciate that everyone RSVPs as soon as possible. This way, we can make necessary adjustments. Those who send us their flight confirmations by April 30, 2022 will be entered into a drawing where we'll cover the costs of 2 nights at the Ballina Manor Hotel!
Many people will be doing a vacation prior to or after the wedding. We request that guests arrive in Ballina in time for the Welcome BBQ on July 12th.
There are a lot of theories on this, but on average, the best time to book a flight is early Sunday mornings or Tuesday evenings, about 6-8 months prior to departing.
It's always good to carry cash, but many credit card/ banks will allow for foreign transactions. Should you need cash, going to an ATM is going to give you the best exchange rate vs currency exchanges in airports.
All cellular providers will have travel options. Verizon's is called Travel Pass. It is $10/ day and will allow you to use your phone for calls, texts, and GPS. We recommend keeping your phone on airplane mode for the duration of your trip and connecting to Wi-Fi in order to make and receive calls. It's free!
Though the weather is nicest in July, it's still Ireland. Expect clouds and scattered showers. We highly recommend bringing a windbreaker/ rain jacket. In July, expect temperatures to be around 70- 75 degrees during the day and about 50 in the evenings.
If you plan on spending some time in Ireland, we recommend you renting a car. It's easier than you'd expect to drive on the left side of the road,. However, if you want to see the country and don't want to drive, you can always book a bus tour. These will take you to see all of the sights, but in one, large group. Another option is to carpool with others in the group.
No. Ireland does not require an international driver's license.
You WILL NEED a passport in order to leave the country. If you do not have a valid passport, it can take up to 3- 6 months to get it processed with all of the delays recently. Do not wait to get this done, just in case there are any issues. The passport will need to be valid until, at least, the date of your return to the States.
You HAVE to be at the Dublin airport at LEAST 3 hours prior to your flight departure. You WILL be going through customs in Ireland and it takes extra time! We cannot stress this enough. This saves you from having to do this in the states, which is extremely helpful, especially if you're trying to make a connecting flight.
