Parents of the Bride
Doug and Jacquie met in high school and have had an adventurous and fun marriage ever since! They've lived in Colorado, Texas, and raised their family in Palo, Iowa. They have been an indescribable source of support for Hannah through school (and life in general). Their marriage has taught us so much, and will continue to teach us even more. They just celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on New Year's Eve!
Munther & Samiya Sahawneh
Parents of the Groom
Samiya and Munther are both from Irbid, Jordan. Munther came to the United States for engineering school in 1972, and was introduced to Samiya while on a trip back home to Jordan. In just a short time they fell in love and were married! They have been living and raising their family in Mobile, Alabama since 1980. Their love, faith, and hospitality has been a blessing to so many, and their marriage will be an excellent inspiration for us! They celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary in October!

[Younger sister of the bride] She's been my absolute best friend since she was born! We're so similar and so opposite in many ways, which makes for excellent sisterhood, and even better friendship. There hasn't been a story, secret, or adventure in my life without her - she will always be my first other half!

{Older brother to the groom] Dr. Mark Sahawneh was born and raised in Mobile, AL. He attended Ross University for medical school and is currently a family medicine resident at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery, Alabama. He will be marrying Anna Zhuromskaya in April, 2019!

[Sister-in-law of the bride] We have been friends since middle school, and family since she married my brother! We even lived together for a time during our Iowa State years. She's also a new mom who made me and Andrew a first time aunt and uncle!

[Younger brother to the groom] Mr. Mathew Sahawneh attended the University of South Alabama and received his degree in nursing. He is currently working as an RN in the intensive care unit at the University of South Alabama Medical Center. He is working on becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

[Friend of the bride] We've been great friends since elementary school & is one of my oldest friends. We remained great friends through middle school, high school, and were even roommates while at Iowa State University. We really have been through every stage in life together, and our friendship is so sweet and sincere, no matter where we are across the map!

[Cousin to the groom] Dr. James Sahawneh attended the University of South Alabama for his undergraduate degree in biology and stayed for medical school. He is currently a surgical resident at St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He plans on returning to Mobile, AL upon completion of his residency program.

[Friend of the bride] We met when her husband (a classmate of ours) brought her to a football watch party our first year of optometry school. We quickly bonded over our love of football, fun, wine, coffee, and the beach while screaming at the TV for our favorite teams! Her family adopted me during my time in Alabama, and she's become a perfect southern soul sister!

[Cousin to the groom] He also went to the University of South Alabama for his undergraduate degree and medical school. Also, like his brother James, he is currently a surgical resident rotating at multiple hospitals in Johnson City, Tennessee.

[Friend and classmate to the bride and groom] We were classmates while in optometry school, but more importantly, we held down the back row of the classroom together for two years! We also worked together on student government during our third year. She really became such an incredible source of encouragement, support, and joy during our fourth year rotations (which were ALL together)! I couldn't imagine going through such an intense program without her. Back row buddies for life!

[Friend of the bride] We met on freshmen move in day at Iowa State University when some tools needed to be borrowed! Her dorm room was just two doors down, which facilitated a rapid friendship! We came to find out how similar we are, including sharing classes in our majors, fitness, and even faith. She was a huge support system during optometry school applications, interviews, and choices. I wouldn't be where I am today without her! She's a Registered Dietitian and Exercise Physiologist at Rush Cancer Center working with oncology patients in Chicago, IL!

[Friend and classmate to the both the bride and groom] He has been a constant and loyal friend through so much during our time in school and our relationship. Many fun weekends were spent either studying or watching sports! He is currently an eye doctor at Eyecare Associates in Mobile, Alabama

[Friend of the bride] We lived next door to one another freshmen year in Friley Hall at Iowa State University. She has been a witty, hilarious, loving friend ever since she knocked on my door and I answered pants-less! We cheered for Iowa State athletics, found adventures around campus, and made a million crazy fun memories. Iowa State would not have been the same without her!

[Friend and classmate to both the bride and groom] Brad has been a great friend and a stand up guy throughout all of optometry school. He is currently an eye doctor in Centreville, Mississippi - AND he just became a first time father with his beautiful wife, Brittany! We can't wait to meet baby Avalynn soon.

[Cousin of the bride] Samantha grew up as a very close cousin to me and Amanda. We're very close in age and our mothers (sisters) made sure we saw each other plenty over the holidays and vacations! We loved growing up together, and have seen each other through a lot of what life has thrown at us! She lives in Greenville, South Carolina with her husband, Chase, and fur baby, Sully. She's currently studying for her nursing degree!

[Optometry school classmate and friend to the bride and groom] Mark and his fantastic wife Heather were the usual hosts for many college football Saturdays! He is always up for a fun time, a deep talk, or can be found manning the barbecue grill making us ribs - if he's not working out at the gym. He is an eye doctor working with his family's practice in Charleston, West Virginia.

[Future sister-in-law] Newly engaged fiancé of the bride's younger brother, Adam. Sasha is also an Iowa State alum, who studied fashion and design. She is originally from Maple Grove, Minnesota and currently works as an Associate Product Manager in Textiles, at HNI corporation. She has been such a fun part of our family since Adam brought her home! She and I have so much in common and I can't wait for her to officially be an in-law!

[Little brother to the bride] Adam has always been a creative, hilarious, witty, and supportive brother! He is currently a Product Development Engineer in Muscatine, Iowa working for Allsteel. He has an adorable rescue dog, Dobby, that he and fiance Sasha love spoiling! Adam has been such a huge part of Hannah's life and will be there every step of the way on wedding day!

[Older brother to the bride] Jacob is a super smart aerospace engineer with a master's degree in mechanical engineering! While his attention to detail never fails, he still has the most fun child-like spirit and keeps us all young! Jacob has been an amazing older brother and one of the best role models to Hannah. He and wife Carly just had their first child, daughter Alice - look out for her as the flower girl on the wedding day!
