Our wedding just so happens to fall during the same weekend as French Quarter Fest, which is the largest showcase of Louisiana music in the world! We recommend taking some time on Sunday to check out the festivities and soak in the tunes.
Looking for something to do the morning of the big day? Start your Saturday off right by attending the drag brunch at The Country Club. Although the show itself isn't kid friendly, it certainly will help you kick the day off right with amazing brunch food, mimosas, and the most talented drag queens this side of the Mason Dixon.
In a city blossoming with craft-cocktail bars, best begin with a classic. The French 75 Bar is a side chapel to Arnaud’s, one of the old French Quarter dining palaces. The bar has French colonial charm, along with the animal print upholstery and tuxedoed bar staff.
There are countless ghost tours to choose from, some of which are kid friendly, others of which are strictly for adults. Speaking of, we recommend opting for the Haunted Pub Crawl, which will take you into some of the oldest and, allegedly, most haunted drinking destinations in the city.
Although this recommendation is fairly obvious, we really hope you take the opportunity of being in New Orleans to try all of the amazing southern food you can. Grab some oysters at Acme Oysters, try the turtle soup at Commander's Palace, head out to Mother's and eat some southern-style ham, and absolutely try anything at Compere Lapin, the restaurant nestled on the ground floor of The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery!
Frenchmen Street on Saturday night is like a big radio dial: you can just pop in and out of the bars and hear something different at each one. Some favorite music venues that you may want to try: Spotted Cat, d.b.a., and Three Muses.
