A Boundless Musical Partnership

As of this writing, we have nine albums published, with two more coming down the pipeline. We write, perform, record, produce, mix, and master everything ourselves. From St. Vincent to Frank Zappa to The Mars Volta to Chet Baker to Mr. Bungle to Melody Gardot to fado to sample-collages, our influences are diverse. Our natural state is one of constant cycling between showing each other new music, reexamining our old favorites, and taking periods of quiet to allow our creative cores the chance to turn. Monkfruit - Mar. 31, 2020 Cat Parade - May 26, 2020 Are You Just Going To Stand There Like A MLEMON? - Sep. 1, 2020 Big Knickknacks - Jan. 10, 2021 Inosculation - Oct. 31, 2021 (Everybody's Favorite) New Band - Dec. 1, 2022 The Legend Of - Jul. 31, 2023 Fruit Snacks - Nov. 23, 2023 Tales Too Tall To Tell - Feb. 29, 2024 We use a wide variety of instruments to create our music, including: Electric and acoustic guitars | Bass guitars | Cello | Violin | Harp | Accordion | Taishogoto | Acoustic and electric drums | Marimba | Melodica | Peruvian and Classical Flutes | Lap-steel guitar | Banjo | Acoustic and electric pianos | Harmonicas | Idiopan | Kalimba | Mandolin | Dulcimer | Glockenspiel | Trumpet | Kazoo | Ukelele | Claves | A bag of potato chips | Djembe, conga, and other percussion | Gong | Tibetan singing bowl Our music is available at http://mlemon.bandcamp.com and on streaming services!

MLEMONS On The Road

Before we met, we'd each carved a wide swath in the world. Much of our first date was spent ping-ponging travel stories back and forth: Asher's time in Israel, McKinley's time in the Bahamas, Asher's tours of the United States and Asia, McKinley's stints in Russia and Canada. McKinley had been unimpressed by Slab City; Asher felt no inhibition in rolling his eyes at the state of Ohio. It felt promising from the first minute. We'd been together only a few months when we took our first trip to Rehoboth Beach. We hung out with Asher's cousin Craig and met a pawn shop proprietor who smashes watches with a hammer on the sidewalk. We will never forget him. Since then, we've descended into volcanoes in Iceland, marveled at Ai Weiwei's enormous chandelier of black skeletons in Venice, seen the Violent Femmes by accident, paid our respects at Paisley Park, sang amongst the Redwoods, gotten haunted by the ghost of an airplane in Wisconsin, seen three Frank Lloyd Wright houses, gone to Hell, partied at the Green Parrot in Key West, and driven across the United States the long way. Each place we go, we bring something back - often visual art, but sometimes an instrument, a clock, or, on one special occasion, an intricately-woven Mexican blanket, handmade by the hardworking people who sell stuff to tourists on the beach. It brings us no small measure of joy to know that we can look forward to exploring the delights of the world together for the rest of our lives.
