Maid of Honor
The left pea in the pod, Katie and Akari have been friends since 2006, when they started working at a summer camp together. Nowadays, even though they still often call each other by their camp names, Katie continues to inspire Akari as a teacher and a friend. They can often be found watching reality TV and snuggled up on Katie's couch - Akari's idea of an ideal evening.
Best Man
Mikkel and Chris met in high school and continue to be good friends. They only took a one-night hiatus from their friend status, when Chris and Mikkel got into a scuffle that resulted in Chris only being able to eat yogurt for a week. Sorry, Chris.
Maid of Honor
The right pea in the pod, the PB to my J, half the A's in Double AA Batteries - Abby has been by Akari's side since their high school days (Go Cardinals!). Abby tends to Akari's needs by calming all of her panic-inducing medical concerns and being an excellent Lord of the Rings watching partner. Abby just finished her Midwifery program at Vanderbilt and is a general rockstar of a human being!
Groomsman
Mikkel's younger brother, who like Mikkel chose his own path in life and now resides in the glaciers of Norway. If you ever can't find Kasper, he's probably up in a tree just to see how it feels or walking barefoot for miles along the Florida highway. As you can tell by the photo above, Kasper, like all of us, has gone through a "phase".
Bridesman
Joe and Akari met one fateful evening at a Gossip Girl screening during their first year at Vassar. Akari had never seen the show before, but Joe filled her in on all the juicy details. They spent all four years at Vassar causing all sorts of trouble, and completed their beloved Senior Project in Drama together. Joe is an excellent Waltz partner, actor, and personal consultant to all of Akari's life decisions. Fortunately, he has given his blessing to this marriage.
Groomsman
An old colleague of Mikkel's from his call center days. Jeppe was an excellent gossip partner for unsuspecting customers and an endless source of entertainment in the workplace. Jeppe's reputation in the workplace was and still is that he always brings presents to his colleagues, which is why he and Mikkel are such good friends.
Bridesmaid
Akari was Ashley's mentor counselor at a summer camp way back in the day. Fast forward almost a decade later, and Ashley and Akari became roommates in their very hyggeligt apartment in Portland. They spent many nights talking, eating pizza, and doing activities like the ones pictured above. Akari still isn't sure if her decision to live with a boy instead of Ashley was the right one, but holds on to the hope that someday they can both live in a tiny house commune on the same property.
Groomsman
Being a Brit, Spence is naturally salty and unhappy.
Bridesman
Connor is Akari's younger brother. They used to create dance routines set to the A*Teens album "Teen Spirit" and force their parents to pay for tickets to see the show. Obviously, not much has changed since then. Akari would like to apologize to Connor for forcing him to do jazz squares with such gusto that he accidentally kneed himself in the forehead.
Groomsman
Daniel has always been a great friend of Mikkel's, and a few years ago became Mikkel's step brother through a legal process. They have been close friends ever since elementary school. Daniel is an avid enthusiast of Harry Potter, The Cheesecake Factory, and virtual reality. (Us too, Daniel. Us too.)
Officiant
"I don't even know you, lady" is a quote often spoken by David to Akari. This cowboy is heading out from Germany to join us for this special day. We'll see if he can find the place, seeing as though he doesn't appear to know anyone in the wedding party.
