This is our favorite place to go for a hike on any given day. It's close enough to Portland to make a great day trip, but you'll feel like you're out of the city. There are so many options for hiking, picnicking, water activities - for any level of experience! Get out there and experience the best the Pacific Northwest has to offer!
This is one of our favorite restaurants! While you're here, you can walk down Alberta Street, where Akari used to live - and used to eat out A LOT. In the mood for Ramen? Waffles? Excellent vegan cupcakes? A Grilled Cheese food cart? Check, check, check, check!
Ok, you're coming to Portland. How can you NOT visit at least one brewery while you're here, in the beer capital of the US? This is Akari and Mikkel's favorite, but you really can't go wrong with any brewery that comes up in a quick google search.
This is a great area to walk around, go for a bike ride, and explore the city. You'll get a great view of Downtown and the Willamette River, and there's a lot to do along the Esplanade itself - coffee shops, breweries, and OMSI (our beloved Science Museum for Kids and Kids at Heart).
There's nothing more iconic to Portlanders than this bookstore. We swear, you can spend a whole day in here - cozied up in the cafe with a well-loved book. We suggest you bring an extra suitcase for all the gems you can find in here.
If you're looking for a way to flex your muscles while you're in town, look no further than The Circuit! Bouldering is a favorite pastime of both Mikkel and Akari. No need to worry about equipment if you're new to the sport - chalk and shoes are available to rent. Just don't blame us if you get addicted while you're in town.
If you want to feel a little bougie (or you are a little bougie - no judgment!), hit up NW 23rd. There's plenty of shopping, cute restaurants, and even the hospital where Akari was born!
Come see why Portland is called "The City of Roses". To be honest, the roses may not be blooming in late July, but Washington Park is still a beautiful place to walk around and spend the afternoon. The park is free, but there is a gorgeous Japanese Garden within the park (highly recommended!) that charges admission to get in.
