If you’re planning to stay in an Airbnb out in the Italian Countryside we would suggest a rental car as the most convenient option for getting around. And don’t worry! Italians drive on the same side of the road as us Americans! Of note: you may need to obtain an international Driver’s License in order to be eligible to drive your rental in Italy. This can be obtained through AAA or the American Automobile Touring Alliance.

Train travel is a, typically, cheap and convenient way to get around in Italy. If you are staying in Florence and are not renting a car we would suggest you take the train from Florence to Loro Ciuffena (the San Giovanni Valdarno or Montevarchi stations the most convenient and are about a 20 minute drive to our Villa). Train fare can be as low as $8 for a round trip ticket!
