Learn about the basics of Greek Dance and how to best join in! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBcZFcbpM94 Trick - Try to join between two people who look like they know what they are doing. Look at the feet of the person in front of you, not down to the feet of people to your right/left.
NATIONAL DANCE OF GREECE
This dance is the most commonly played at Greek events - if you're only going to learn one dance, this will get you farthest. 12-steps in a line. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-xCX6EuCpM
AN EASIER OPTION
A more approachable dance to the same music as the Kalimatiano. If you aren't ready to join into a big line, try this with a friend or two. Lots of variations of steps, so you can't really go wrong. Slow-quick-quick, Slow-quick-quick https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEiQkUdJSd8
ZORBA DANCE
6 straightforward steps, but don't be fooled - the music will speed up! Stay in it as long as you can. Keep moving to the right, you'll be fine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dRaB5SjoOo
FREESTYLING
Everyone has their own way of doing this dance - there are no wrong steps. Have complete confidence in what you are doing and add your own flair. It's all about how you present yourself. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYCnjyRHobo
ONE-TWO-THREE
When danced in couples, the foot steps aren't complex. This allows for lots of variations with your partner in doing spins and tricks. Though this video is highly choreographed (not realistic for a party), it demonstrates that as long as you stay on beat (three small steps: quick-quick-slow), you can move around, work with your partner, dance on your own, etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvBYT-41WuQ
