*The* Piedmont Park, aka Michelle's favorite part of Atlanta. This 200+ acre park lies in the heart of Midtown Atlanta (20 min walk from hotel). It has 2 playgrounds, walking paths, bocce courts and a lake with (rather ugly) ducks. Please note: Jazz Fest (atljazzfest.com) - free and fun to attend - will be going on in the park during the weekend so expect larger than normal crowds.
Stunning gardens with great views of Midtown Atlanta. Michelle & Constantine have created special memories here. Restaurant onsite recommends reservations in advance. Multiple snack carts. Dedicated children's garden. Located next to Piedmont Park.
This is a great place to grab a meal! There are lots of choices all within a single repurposed warehouse. Get tickets to Skyline Park to play minigolf on the roof and see great views of Midtown and Buckhead. There are some retail stores if you need to pick something up. Go to the second level and follow signs to the Beltline - a multiuse path that someday will encircle the entire city. It makes for a fun afternoon stroll to see the artwork and additional shops on the way. If you're feeling extra adventurous, grab scooters to take you further along the Beltline into Inman Park area where you can see the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library or even further to Krog Street Market.
See where Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born, preached (Ebenezer Baptist Church) and laid to rest while learning about how Mrs. Coretta Scott King preserved his legacy. Nearby is Oakland Cemetery, the final resting place of many important Atlanta figures as well as Sweet Auburn Farmer's Market.
Fun for the whole family. The big tank is mesmerizing. Say hi to the penguins, river otters and seadragons (straight out of Hogwarts). Check the app or website for timings of the Dolphin and Sea Lion shows to best plan your visit. Next to the Aquarium are World of Coca-Cola, National Center for Civil & Human Rights, Children's Museum of Atlanta and Centennial Olympic Park. This area (Downtown) makes for a fun-filled day.
Did someone say pandas?! This recommendation was added as it is currently the only place in America to see our black & white bear friends! Though not as large as San Diego or National Zoo, this is a great way to spend a few hours. A short 15-min drive from Midtown or Downtown, but not MARTA accessible.
