YES. After much research, there doesn't seem to be any advantage to the "block of rooms" for our wedding. We are recommending Mohegan Sun Resort/ Casino. We will likely be staying there the whole weekend. However, Mohegan Sun is not the most affordable hotel option. Foxwoods Casino and Resort has some amazing rooms for a low price. You can also stay in Mystic, CT or surrounding areas. There will be a shuttle from Mohegan Sun to the venue, so you could always stay somewhere else and meet at Mohegan Sun for the ride :) If you come early and would like to save some money, you can check out things near Mike's hometown of Wallingford, CT. It is pretty centrally located in the small state, and it will help out if you wish to do some of the day-trips/activities planned the days leading up to the wedding. ALSO, Newport, RI is fairly close by to the venue, and makes an excellent weekend away in New England :)
It is highly recommended to rent a car. It is a small, easy to navigate state with loads of parking, should be smooth for people used to the city. We recommend Budget. Cali And Mike (and family) will help with rides as much as possible, just let us know and we can assist! Also, if you fly into Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, CT (Hartford), which we recommend, most rental companies have shuttles ride from the airport. The airport is a small, easy to navigate, not-usually crowded airport. Also, Uber and Lyft are available, but not quite as many as in Los Angeles
We will be! However, due to the fact we don't have a house, we are encouraging a gift of money for those who wish to give a gift. (However, we understand the cost of coming to out-of-towners, and your presence alone will be present enough for us :)
New England weather is always unpredictable, as is just about anywhere nowadays. However, New England is typically beautiful in the Autumn season. Warm days and cool nights with some crispness to the air. You would do fine with casual clothes for non-wedding events (shorts or jeans, and a jacket or sweater). Wedding attire will be formal, as you might imagine. But it's important to be comfortable and be yourself. We invited you, so that means we love you just the way you are! Weather permitting, the Ceremony will be outside by the water, as well as cocktail hour. We have all of the surrounding grounds available to use, so feel free to explore day and night. Dinner will be inside the castle, while there will be two dance floors, one outside on the patio and one inside. It won't snow (now that I jinxed it!), but there's always the possibility of chilly weather, scorching hot weather, rain, or, hopefully, nice fall weather. We have some evening surprises, so be prepared!
PLEASE CONTACT CALI AND MIKE! We will do our best to help you plan in a way that fits any budget, and help in any way we can.
