Travel
The CBD offers the most “Sydney” feel and is very well connected, while the inner suburbs are more relaxed and local with equally great atmosphere. Wherever you choose, we recommend staying on or near a train line—the network is excellent and very easy to use.
Best options in the CBD: Darling Harbour (closest to Balmain), Barangaroo, Circular Quay, Haymarket, and The Rocks.
Just outside the CBD: Ultimo, Strawberry Hills, and Surry Hills are great choices.
If you’d prefer to be closer to our neighbourhood or the airport: Eveleigh, Erskineville (where we live!), Alexandria, and Macdonaldtown are all convenient and well connected. Newtown is also great but loud.
If you'd like to be near the beach: Bondi, Coogee, Randwick, Bronte, Tamarama, and South Coogee are all beautiful, but they’re a bit further out and less connected. Getting around will take longer.
We’d recommend avoiding Kensington and Kingsford.
