Mid July to early September is the best time to get up close and personal with whales, porpoises and dolphins with tours run out of St. Andrews, Grand Manan and Campobello Island and out of various harbours near Digby, Nova Scotia. St. Andrews and Campobello Island are Jon and I's favorite places! We have yet to visit Grand Manan, but are hoping to in the near future!
Visit some of New Brunswick's finest wines at Motts Landing, Dunhams Run Estate Winery and Gillis of Belleisle Winery or if beer is your thing, consider a tour at Canada's own Moosehead's Breweries, established in 1867. You might also want to walk through the market in St John or an art exhibit at the St John Arts Centre https://www.mottslandingvineyard.com/welcome-to-motts-landing https://dunhamsrun.ca/ https://gilliswine.com/ https://moosehead.ca/ https://www.sjcitymarket.ca/about https://www.sjartscentre.ca/
Take a 4 hour drive to Nova Scotia or on a Northumberland ferry from St John New Brunswick to Digby, Nova Scotia. When in Nova Scotia, you may want to explore the beautiful harbourfront and the historical Citadel in Halifax, the pretty county of Lunenburg and the picture perfect town of Mahone Bay, surf the waves in Lawrencetown or have your breath taken away at Peggy's Cove.
Sail on a Northumberland ferry from neighboring Caribou, Nova Scotia or drive the Confederation bridge for a day trip to, or stay longer on Prince Edward Island (PEI) https://www.ferries.ca/ns-pei-ferry/schedule/ https://www.confederationbridge.com/ When in PEI, you should spend time exploring the birthplace of Confederation in Charlottetown, the Green Gables Heritage Place and enjoy some of the most spectacular sunsets in the Maritimes while camping on the beaches in the province's National Park.
