Maya and George met a few years ago in Tokyo only to exchange a quick hello & goodbye. They met just briefly through a mutual friend (G Yamazawa to be exact!) who was visiting from the States. A few years later, George and Maya were reunited when that same friend G came back to visit Japan. They instantly bonded over their shared love for music and mutual Buddhist beliefs. Soon after their reunion, Maya flew to LA for a month of music-making and it was during this month apart that they began to develop a strong spiritual bond and support system as fellow artists and Buddhist practitioners. Everyday they spoke for hours over the phone, encouraging one another and discussing everything from their upbringing to the exact place and way in which they would like to exit this world - by the ocean, at the age of 108, wearing a huge smile, of course! ;) Before Maya could even return to Japan, they acknowledged that they were soulmates destined to be together forever.

マヤとジョージが 初めて出会ったのは、 ３・４年前、 アメリカから日本へ遊びに来ていた 共通の友人G Yamazawaを 通してでした。 この時はただの挨拶程度でした。 その後再び、G君が日本へ訪れた時、 二人は2度目の再会の チャンスがありました。 この時、二人は話す時間に恵まれ、 同じくらい深い音楽への情熱と 同じ信仰ということもあり、 直ぐに意気投合してしまいました。 その後マヤは音楽作りの為に、 一ヶ月間LAへ飛びました。 この間二人は、音楽の仲間として、 又仏法のプラクティショナーとして、 毎日電話で何時間も、 色々な事を語り合いました。 自分の生い立ちから、 自分の今の夢まで、 ありとあらゆる事を話しました。 そしていつしか、二人の間には、 強い絆が生まれていました。 ついに彼らは、 自分たちは永遠に一緒にいるように 運命づけられている 「ソウルメイト」である事に 気づきました。

To celebrate Maya's 33rd birthday on 8/18/18, George and Maya took a trip to Cancun, Mexico and visited the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza - the number one destination on Maya's lifelong bucket-list. Their day was off to a rocky start as Maya was late (per usual) getting ready and almost made them miss the bus. George was panicking as he feared he would lose his perfect proposal opportunity but miraculously (as Maya expected), they made it just in time. After circling around the smaller ruins, the tour guide saved the best for last and left the group in front of the great El Castillo (Kukulcán Pyramid). As typical tourists, Maya and George jumped at the photo opportunity but began to bicker over whose camera they would use. Maya wanted the perfect photo with their full bodies and the entire pyramid while George just wanted to cut to the chase! Maya noticed George's racing heartbeat and asked "Baby, are you ok??!" He answered, "Yeah, it's really hot.." and quickly asked one of the tourists from their bus to take a "photo" (which was in fact a video in disguise). Instead of posing for the picture, George turned to Maya and asked, "So baby, I love you and I wanna know... will you marry me?" Maya was caught off guard as she was told several times by George that he would NOT be proposing on her birthday and when daydreaming about the proposal, she was expecting it to be longer than one sentence. George began to worry at Maya's delayed response and offered her a "so is that a yes...???" which helped bring Maya back to her senses at which she joyfully screamed, "Of course!!!!"

2018年、8月18日、 以前からマヤ文明に 深い興味を持っていた マヤの33歳の誕生日を 二人きりでお祝いしようと、 カンクン・メキシコへ旅に出ました。 誕生日のその日、 マヤの朝の支度が遅かったせいで、 彼らが乗るはずのバスに もう少しで乗り遅れる！という ハプニングからのスタートでした。 この日ジョージは、 秘かにマヤにプロポーズをしようと 心に決めていました。 なのでバスにはどうしても 乗り遅れたくない！ という焦りが出ていました。 しかし、二人は強運の持ち主なので、 ギリギリでバスに乗る事ができ、 無事に遺跡巡りツアーへ 出発しました。 そして遂に、 ジョージが心に決めていた場所、 マヤ遺跡の中でも最も有名な 「ククルカン・ピラミッド」へ 到着しました。 二人は巨大なピラミッドをバックに ツーショットを撮ろうと試みました。 が、ジョージの心の中は いかにプロポーズを成功させる事で いっぱいでした。 一方で、マヤの心の中は いかにインスタ映えする写真を 撮る事でいっぱいでした。 なので、ここでなんと、 こんな大切な瞬間に、 二人はどちらのカメラを使うかで 小さな言い合いをしてしまいました。 でもその時、 マヤは、ジョージの心臓の鼓動が 異常に速い事に気づきました。 次の瞬間、 ジョージはマヤの前で膝まずき、 「ベイビー愛しています。 僕と結婚してくれますか？」 と聞いてきました。 ジョージは、 沢山の素敵な言葉を 考えていたのにも関わらず、 頭が真っ白になってしまい、 言葉が出てきませんでした。 マヤはマヤでビックリしすぎ、 同時に何かこの後に続くであろう ロマンチックな言葉を 妄想していたので、 二人の間に、まさかの沈黙が 流れてしまいました。 マヤの返事があまりにも遅いので ジョージがもう一度聞きました。 「OKですか…？？」 マヤはそこでやっと我に返り、 「はい！！喜んで！！！」 と思わず叫びました。 そこで気づけば、 二人は歓喜の中、 奇跡のツーショット（上の写真）を 撮ってもらっていました。 この瞬間、 二人は心の中で 同じ事を感じていました： 『G♡M, together forever ∞』
