Travel in the UK
Please note it takes considerably longer to travel distances in the Lake District than those same distances in Canada. The roads are twisty, narrow, and it is the long weekend so there will be traffic. Please check Waze or AA Route Finder to check realistic travel times, ensuring your arrival times. Mauraine also suggests if you are new to driving in the UK, rent an automatic vehicle as it is a steep learning curve. (Unless you are already familiar with a standard). Reminder to book early, it is the long weekend, everything will book up fast! 12 months in advance is recommended.

We recommend travelling significant distances by train in the UK and renting cars locally near the lake district for the wedding. Use the Trainline app to book trains.

Car Hire Recommendations
A few car rental locations: We recommend renting your cars from the airport or nearby locations to the airport of which you will arrive and depart from if you are travelling from outside of the UK. Other recommended towns to rent are: Kendal, Lancaster, Preston, or Carlisle. We recommend using Waze or AA route finder to plan your routes as they will provide better reflecting of travel time.

Theos Taxi is located in the heart of the Lake District and can be utilized to taxi to and from most primary airports and local attractions within the Lake District. They prefer to be called to book trips, however you can utilize their online form to get quotes for pre-planned rides.
