When should we arrive in the UK/Lake District?

Answer

The wedding is taking place on Saturday, August 28th 2027. The Rehersal and set up takes place on Friday, August 27th, 2027. To travel from Toronto, Canada to the Lake District in England takes 1 full night (8 Hours) and half a day (3-6 hours). We recommend anyone flying from Canada or other countries to arrive in Manchester OR Edinburgh. With this in mind, we recommend arriving in the Lake District or around the Lake District area on or before the 25th of August, 2027. This will be allow for any time change adjustments and account for delay's or travel hiccups.

When should we leave the Lake District?

Answer

The wedding is over at 2am on the 29th of August, 2027. We recommend waiting at least until the 31st to depart the area of Ambleside and Grasmere because it is the August long weekend in the UK. This means ALOT of traffic on the 29th and 30th of August, 2027. You would rather be hiking or shopping, trust me.

Where should we stay?

Answer

There are plenty of VRBO's, Air BnB's and Hotels in Grasmere and Ambleside. We do not recommend being more than 20 minute drive from the wedding venue, because you will require a taxi ride home. Ambleside is about 10 minutes by car and Grasmere is about 10 minutes on foot. Please plan your stay carefully and do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have questions on where to book your stay. We are happy to help. Please consider booking your stay ASAP. Given the August long weekend, the hotels and cottages will disappear quickly.

Travelling by train to the Lakes District

Answer

Ideally you get a train to Windemere via Oxenholm. Upon arriving at Windemere station, you can take a bus or a taxi. Use the trainline app.

Do I need Cash for the Bar?

Answer

We will be providing Beer and Wine and a portion of liquor for the special day. Please plan to bring cash or card for specialty drinks and cocktails.
