Josiah's Beach has a surf school (for the newer hodads), a white sandy beach good for bronzing, and 2 different restaurants to grab a snack or a pina colada (highly recommend the pina). *we are not sure if the restaurants survived the storm but the surf school is still there!*
A great secluded beach if you are in the mood for exploring. You may need 4WD to get to this spot.
The big city on the island! The main grocery store is located here if you are staying for an extended period. Also there is a little shopping you could do and a pretty large marina to check out. Traffic can be tricky around here though.
Fun beach to snorkle or swim at! It can be a little tricky getting to it though! It does have a restaurant and bar if you need provisions throughout the day!
Taste some of the local rum or bring some home for later! Ask to try the "panty remover"
Best done earlier in the morning before it gets too steamy!
There is a little bit of shopping, a couple restaurants, and some nice boats to check out here! This is the closest Ferry Terminal to the event and also may be where you catch a charter boat for fishing or snorkeling! **West End was badly damaged and will likely not be back to its former self by November.**
Take a ferry or hire a boat to take you over to Virgin Gorda, another one of the British Virgin Islands! The baths are unlike anything we've ever seen! Giant Rocks have formed grottoes and crevices you can crawl into. It can get a little crowded with the tourists but worth the trip.
A great spot to go snorkeling at. Many of the boat charters will offer this as an option! Can be done as a half day or coupled with some other snorkeling spots and lunch at the Willy T (a floating bar known for it's daytime parties).
Known for the painkillers (the official rum drink), the Soggy Dollar is a great spot to spend a couple hours. Right on White Bay Beach on Jost Van Dyke the Soggy Dollar is a fun party spot. You will find other restaurants along the beach and lots of chairs in the sand to take a load off at. You can charter a boat to the island or take the ferry over. The beach/bar are a quick taxi ride once on Jost.
You can take the ferry to Jost (maybe 20 min) and grab a cab over to the bubbly pool (followed by a 10 minute walk to the bubble spot). As the waves come in you've got yourself a natural jet pool! Foxy's Taboo is a restaurant at the drop-off/pick-up spot for the cabs. Grab a drink here or head in to town to Foxy's Tamarind Bar and possibly see Foxy himself playing a tune.
There are waves throughout Tortola, not just the popular breaks. There needs to be just the right swell for most of the breaks to come alive, but there are a few places that work with minimal swell. November is swell season, so hopefully there will be a few waves. *If you would like to rent a board for a few days, the surf school at Josiahs Bay rents a wide range of boards.*
A great company that offers adventure tours throughout Tortola. They offer paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking, surfing. These are the same guys that run the surf school at Josiahs Bay.
