In Chinese culture, the red envelope is a traditional gift given at weddings. The red color symbolizes luck and blessings for the couple's married life, and the monetary gift wishes the newlywed couple good fortune, happiness, and prosperity.
Unfortunately, we cannot receive physical gifts because we will be both moving frequently in the next few years for medical residency and post-doctoral studies.
