As teenagers who went to different high schools in different counties near Atlanta, Cathy and Max had a few mutual friends, but never had good reasons to talk to each other. However, as fate would have it, in their senior years, while Cathy was struggling in AP Physics, Max seemingly always had the answers (because he was really good at googling the question answers), and while Max was struggling in his college apps, Cathy always knew what to do (because she had her life together). So as they got to know each other better, they started dating in senior year. Tragically, while charging forward in their own ambitions, although their relationship stayed strong, their physical locations diverged. Max left to Baltimore to study biomedical engineering, and Cathy stayed in Atlanta to study computer science. Finally, after four years apart, fate reunited them again, as Max returned back to Atlanta to pursue his PhD. But they both knew that their time together was limited. This time, it was Cathy who fate decided to pull away. Cathy's time in Atlanta was but a temporary gap year, and after a blissful year together, she went off to medical school in Rochester, NY. Fate set them up for 4+ more years of long-distance. However, before she left, they decided to seal their love through a promise in the form of an engagement. Their promises to each other have held steadfast, and we will be celebrating their unity through marriage. For what is love without strength and sacrifice?
