Known as the “Emerald Necklace”, the Cleveland Metroparks is one of the nation’s most extensive nature preserves that runs throughout northeast Ohio. There’s free admission to all parts of the park system, and some parts of the park have activities like canoe/kayaking.
You can enjoy free admission to one of the best (and 4th wealthiest) art museums in the US, and one of the most visited art museums in the world. Known for large Asian and Egyptian collections. Located in University Circle near downtown Cleveland.
This one’s for all those thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies out there- Cedar Point is a gem amongst the Midwest and east coast. Located in Sandusky, about an hour west of Cleveland, Cedar Point is famous for being the only amusement park with 6 roller coasters taller than 200 feet, having a world record number of rides, and being the most visited seasonal amusement park in US.
If you’re into good food and street art, check out Ohio City or Tremont. The areas are known for their restored Victorian homes, artsy galleries, gourmet food and coffee shops, West Side Market- the famous open air public market, and the house from the 1980s cult classic “A Christmas Story”.
A fun time for kids and adults...play some carnival games, ride some classic roller coasters, watch the sunset from the beach, and take a spin on the Ferris wheel! Across the street at 3rd Street Promenade you can also find a ton of shops and restaurants (and also the best place to place is in the 3rd street promenade garages).
One of my favorite underrated, low-key places to take friends and family when they visit. Take a stroll through the unique homes, picturesque bridges, and pretty backdrop of the canals that run through the neighborhood (also great place for photos). Nestled just south of Venice Beach, you can check out the nearby boardwalk if you want something more lively too.
What’s a trip to LA without trying out all the delicious food? This place is Zabiha Halal and has been tried and tested with not just Muslims, but is a crowd favorite. Other places to check out are Porto’s bakery and Korea town...honestly you could spend your whole trip doing an LA food tour.
