Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by July 15th by sending us an email to mariamandamirwedding@gmail.com, or RSVPing here on this site. Thank you!

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

Your presence and duas (blessings) are gifts enough as we embark on this life journey together. For this reason, we've chosen not to have a wedding registry. However, if it is your wish to bless us with an additional gift, we simply request no boxed items please. Thank you!

Question

What does, "no boxed gifts" mean?

Answer

Some of our non-Desi/western guests were wondering what this meant...that's when we realized that it must be a wedding custom specific to our Desi (South Asian) roots! Simply put, it's a colloquial way of requesting wedding cards instead of a packaged wedding item/gift. Some couples prefer this to physical gifts or a registry, especially if they'll be moving in together after marriage and don't yet know what they'll need (as is our case). Thank you!

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Please arrive at the Islamic Center of Cleveland (6055 W 130th St, Cleveland, OH 44130) by 2:45pm so that we can begin the ceremony on time at 3pm. Thank you!

Question

Is there parking for the Nikkah ceremony, Nikkah reception, or Walima reception?

Answer

Yes. At the Nikkah ceremony venue (Islamic Center of Cleveland) and Nikkah reception venue (Weymouth Country Club), free self-parking will be available. At the Walima reception venue (The Promenade at Marina City Club), we will provide free valet parking for guests, but please remember to tip parking attendants, if you feel so inclined.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Desi (South Asian) formal, please. Typically that means shalwar kameez, lenghas, or saris for women and suits and/or ties for men. Additionally, for the Nikkah ceremony, please enter the masjid (mosque) dressed modestly. Arms and legs should be covered for both genders. Women are also requested to cover their hair with a scarf.

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes, if not, we would prefer if it was just you.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Family,” then yes, if not, we would prefer if it was just you.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Yes, please refer to our "Travel" page for detailed information regarding our hotel block and hotel recommendations.
