The Wedding Website of Maize Longboat and Victoria Cooke
(Roberts Creek leading out to the Salish Sea. Just beyond the trees to the left is Roberts Creek Pier.) The West Coast means a lot to us both: It's where we met, became best friends, and decided life was so much richer with the other in it. Maize was lucky enough to grow up in xwesam (Roberts Creek), a small village within a sleepy stretch of mainland west of Vancouver known as the Sunshine Coast. Nestled between ocean and mountains, the Coast is part of the unceded lands of the shíshálh and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nations. A few years ago, Maize told Victoria that he'd had dreams of getting married at the end of the pier when he was younger. So here we are, just making dreams come true.

Flight

Flying in via Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

For guests wanting to fly directly into Vancouver, you can fly from any major Canadian city's airport to YVR. From here, it's between a 40 - 90 minute drive to the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal depending on traffic. The most convenient mode of transportation to and along the Sunshine Coast is by car. To find a car rental from Vancouver International Airport, visit their website using the link in this section, select "Transportation" from the menu at the top of the screen, and scroll down to select "Car Rentals." Important: The Sunshine Coast is *only* accessible by ferry. Please see the "Book Your Ferry In Advance" section below for information on how to book your ferry sailing to and from the Coast.

Flight

Flying in via Abbotsford International Airport (YXX)

For guests wanting to depart from Hamilton International Airport (YHM), you can fly into Abbotsford which is east of Vancouver. From here, it's approximately a 1.5 hour drive to the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal with possible highway tolls and traffic. The most convenient mode of transportation to and along the Sunshine Coast is by car. To find a car rental from Abbotsford International Airport, visit their website using the link in this section, select "Travellers" from the menu at the top of the screen, and scroll down to select "Car Rental Agencies." Important: The Sunshine Coast is *only* accessible by ferry. Please see the "Book Your Ferry In Advance" section below for information on how to book your ferry sailing to and from the Coast.

Travel Note

IMPORTANT: Book Your Ferry in Advance

The Sunshine Coast is *only* accessible via ferry ride. We imagine most of our guests will be travelling from Metro Vancouver, and therefore will be getting on the ferry at the BC Ferries Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal. We *highly recommend* you book your return ferry crossing *in advance* from Horseshoe Bay to the Langdale Ferry Terminal on the Sunshine Coast. The ferry can get extremely busy, especially on weekends and holidays, and without an advanced reservation you might not make it onto the sailing you're hoping for. At the time of writing, there were nine sailing times available on Friday, October 7 and Saturday, October 8, the first departure at 7:30am and the last departure at 10:55pm. Be sure not to miss the last ferry or you'll be sleeping with the fishes! Book your ferry through the link below and reach out to us if you have any further questions.

Travel Note

Aren't Able to Rent a Car?

Although the easiest, most reliable, and least time consuming option for getting to and travelling around on the Sunshine Coast is by car, there are other travel options! Carpool with other guest(s): When you RSVP for the ceremony, please indicate whether you're looking for someone to carpool with and we'll match you up and put you in contact with guests who are offering rides for the weekend. Take public transit: It's entirely possible to get to Roberts Creek from either the YVR or YXX airports - just make sure to plan in advance and be prepared for it to take some time! Use Google Maps or a similar tool to get public transit routes to your destinations. For more information about public transit in Vancouver, visit translink.ca (Metro Vancouver's transit system is separate from the rest of BC). For more information about public transit in Abbotsford and the Sunshine Coast, visit bctransit.com. Take taxis/Uber: See FAQ page for key locations and addresses you should know.
