Cody and I's first date was at NoBull Smokehouse in downtown Fargo, ND. Cody thought I was crazy to want to go out for such a messy meal for a first date but I thought if he can't handle that my favorite meal is ribs, then he is not the one for me. Cody got there early and so did I. We both had butterflies when we first saw each other but seemed to calm down once we got settled into a booth. We talked the whole time until it was closing. I had to work the next day so we shared a hug and went our separate ways. From that day on we have not missed a day without talking to one another. Cody had plans on moving out to Detroit Lakes, but I had plans on moving home to the North Shore. We took a trip together that April back home and that was enough to convince him that the North Shore is the better option. That fall we packed up and moved to Schroeder and settled into my great grandmas house on Lake Superior. I had started to work with my dad at McKeever Well Drilling to learn how to run the company. Cody had a few odds and ends jobs like snow making and brush clearing until he settled with the county's highway department. Living up north has been a breath of fresh air for us. It has been fun to watch the dogs go from city limits to the sticks. They especially love to run around our yard to get all the fresh sniffs from the wildlife along with swimming in the chilly lake. Cody has gotten very involved in our little community up here. He attended a few fire meetings and all of a sudden became the fire chief. I prefer to support him in doing so by attending the meetings and picked up the kitting hobby. Come May 24th, 2025 Cody got down on one knee and asked the big question. I was fully not prepared as we had just finished a big meal with my family camping at Timberline RV Resort. Just as I got settled into my comfy camp fire clothes to sit around the fire wrapped up in a blanket, Cody took it as the perfect time to ask. Of course I said yes with tears in my eyes and my face blushed from all of my family watching. From there we took an amazing trip to the Badlands of SD, Blackhills, and up to the Badlands of ND. From then on we have been busy planning our wedding and enjoying our engagement. We are so excited to celebrate with you in June.
