We first met in August of 2018, thanks to a well-timed swipe on Tinder. Jacob had just returned from a summer in Michigan, and Madison, only recently returned to LA after a stint working in Oahu, wasn’t expecting much more than an ordinary first date. Instead, we both quickly realized there was something different about each other - something that felt like coming home. That evening, conversation flowed easily, sparks were flying - and in true rom-com fashion, two unforgettable things happened: Jacob got a nosebleed right after our first kiss, and his ex-boyfriend showed up unexpectedly. It was the kind of scene Meg Ryan might have appreciated: chaotic, hilarious, and oddly perfect - an early sign that our story was going to be equal parts heartfelt and cinematic.. Within a week, we’d already been on two more dates, culminating in an evening under the stars at the Hollywood Bowl, listening to John Williams in concert. During the Jurassic Park theme, Jacob reached for Madison’s hand, and it felt like the beginning of something lasting. In that moment, with the music swelling around us, our story truly began. Since then, we’ve navigated the joys and challenges of life together: a global pandemic, the “long-distance” years of Venice vs. Glendale traffic (which sometimes felt like crossing an ocean), the sudden loss of Jacob’s father, Brent, surgeries, stressful jobs, and all the everyday hurdles in between. Through it all, our bond has only deepened. Moving in together three years ago was a milestone that felt like getting to live with your best friend. A feeling that has only grown with each night falling asleep to held hands just like we did back at the Hollywood Bowl. We’ve also had our share of adventures. Just six months into dating, Jacob bravely joined Madison’s family on safari in Africa - earning hero status for surviving both the bush and the baptism-by-fire exposure to the in-laws all at once. Since then, we’ve traveled across the world, welcomed four godchildren into our lives, and built a life full of small joys - from morning coffee routines to movie marathons that always seem to circle back to John Williams. This past July, we came full circle when Madison proposed to Jacob at Manawaiopuna Falls in Kauai - the waterfall featured in the original Jurassic Park. The score that first connected us played once more, now as the soundtrack to the next chapter of our lives together. When it came time to choose a wedding location, Northern Michigan quickly became the obvious choice. It's not just Jacob's native home... it has become a place of belonging for Madison too - thanks to the warmth with which Jacob's family has welcomed him. It feels only right to begin our married life there, under autumn skies, surrounded by all of you - the people we love most and who have supported us on this journey.
