Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions and answers to help you plan for our wedding. If you have specific questions you can always email us at patrickandleahwed@gmail.com
Question

What Is Smart Casual? (Men)

Answer

Think clean and a little dressed-up. Smart casual is a dress code that is typically comprised of well-fitting, neat and appropriate pieces that are slightly less formal than a business dress code. A hoodie would be too casual and pleated wool dress pants would be too formal. Instead we recommend going with chinos, they are less formal. A polo shirt you is a the perfect sweet spot of smart casual. Nice jeans (no holes) are acceptable when paired with a nice top.

Question

What Is Smart Casual? (Women)

Answer

For the Friday night event we are keeping it clean and comfortable. You probably want to look nice for photos. Our photographer will be stopping by. Smart casual wedding attire can be tricky as you don’t want to appear over- or under-dressed. For example you can't go wrong with a dress in a comfortable cut. Then, pair it with low heels and casual accessories. Alternatively, a jumpsuit or stylish pants and a top can make an excellent option. Nice jeans (no holes) and a sharp top is also great smart casual look. Honestly, it's really flexible and we want you to be comfortable.

Question

What is Cocktail Attire? (Women)

Answer

Ladies, we want you to be yourself. But, we also don't want any guest to be very distracting with too much skin or wardrobe malfunctions. Our photographer will try to capture everyone looking their best. Here's some dos and don'ts. We would prefer for our guests to not wear anything too revealing. Ripped jeans are too casual for cocktail attire. Sleek trousers are a great alternative. Dresses of any length are expected. Heels or flats are great, however, sneakers are not the right idea. You may need to walk on some grass but most of the venue is on pavement or concrete. We recommend dressing for slightly colder weather in mind, the temperature in Raleigh in March is between 45-65. And as always, we request that you do not wear white or very close to white colors.

Question

What is Cocktail Attire? (Men)

Answer

Alright guys, we want you to look sharp and handsome! It is a wedding. We are expecting everyone to dress up for the wedding. You should consider that there will be dancing, potentially colder weather (45-65) in the evening, and lots of sitting. Here are some questions to answer the main question! Are jeans okay to wear for a cocktail attire? maybe, but please no holes! Pretty much any other more dress pants is great. Ties are fine, but also, no tie is fine too! Do I need to wear a suit? No, not necessarily but it is a welcome option. Blazers and sport coats are also great. You might want something warm in the evening just in case is it a cooler night but don't wear too much that you can't take off for busting out those dance moves! We really want to stress that your outfit allows you to dance the night away.

Question

Do I have to go to the Friday night event?

Answer

Nope, it is not required. It is a casual event to spend more time with everyone before the big day. Please keep in mind that we do need a headcount so please RSVP on this website to let us know whether you can come after you receive your invitation. Kids are welcome to this event!

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

We plan to send out invitations starting in January 2021. You will be able to RSVP on this website after you receive your invitation. Please RSVP as early as you can for the 2 events: the Wedding and the Friday night welcome. We would like to know by early January 2022 whether you can attend. Our hard deadline to RSVP will be Feb 11th, 2022. After, Feb 11th, 2022 we will assume you cannot attend and extend invitations to more guests. Please RSVP on this website!

Question

Can we bring our small children?

Answer

Patrick and I would prefer our wedding to be an adult celebration. We think your kids are wonderful- I promise. However, we are designing our wedding event for adults to enjoy that will last 6 hours. We do not expect tiny humans (under the age of 12) to be happy or comfortable during our event. The invitation envelope will list the names of the people invited. If you need help arranging for a sitter let us know. However, we decided it would be wonderful to invite tiny humans to the Friday night event! Just let us know for headcount purposes.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony/reception?

Answer

Yes, there is lots of parking at the wedding venue Walnut Hill. It is a gravel lot. Please carpool if you can. We do recommend using Uber/Lyft or our arranged transportation from our hotel blocks if possible.

Question

I have a food allergy or dietary restriction, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes, we will work with our caterer to accommodate you. However, you need to tell us when you RSVP so we can let our caterer know in advance. Please email us at patrickandleahwed@gmail.com to tell us what we should tell our caterer. During the event you should always ask the servers what it is they are serving.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

The names printed on the invitation are the ones invited. If the name is not there, they are not currently invited. The exception is if your invitation says "Plus One", then you can provide a name for that spot. Unfortunately, we cannot invite everyone and have to make hard choices to prioritize the people that Patrick and I are closest too. If you have any questions please send us an email at patrickandleahwed@gmail.com

Question

Will the coronavirus/Covid-19 impact the wedding?

Answer

We do not know how Covid-19 will impact the wedding. We want everyone to make their decision to attend based on their health and safety first. We will comply with any state or federal orders in place at the time. We are monitoring the situation very closely and may have to make changes to our invitations/headcount and plans based on what happens. Our hope is that the wedding will happen as planned. We hope everyone will be understanding if we have to make changes such as number of invites, date postponement, or even cancellation. Mark your calendar and get your vaccine! We recommend not booking any travel or hotels until your receive your invitation.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Yes, the day before the wedding we have a separate Friday Welcome event. Also, we recommend that you get in touch with your extended family to see if you want to spend time with them before any of the wedding events. Check out the "Things to Do" tab for some ideas Patrick and I think you might enjoy.

Question

Do I need to be vaccinated to attend?

Answer

Yes, we have decided to only allow fully vaccinated guests to attend in person. We will be asked proof of vaccination prior when confirming RSVP. Unvaccinated guests will be escorted out of the venue.

Question

Is there a bus from my hotel for the Wedding Day?

Answer

We have buses going to three hotels: The Holiday Inn Cary on Dillard Drive, The Longleaf Hotel on Dawson Street, and the Raleigh Marriot City Center on Fayetteville Street. Ecostyle Transportation will pick up at the Holiday Inn Cary by 330PM and the LongLeaf Hotel around 345PM. Ecostyle will do two dropoffs from the Wedding Venue at the end of the night, one at 9PM and one at 1045 to the Holiday Inn and Longleaf hotels. North Hill Transportation will pickup by 330PM at the Raleigh Marriot City Center Hotel and leave the venue at 1045PM to dropoff at the Marriot at the end of the night. Please let Patrick and Leah know if you plan to use the busses!
