Dan and Lybang first met at Maple Grove Senior High School, where they graduated together in 2011. While they weren’t close friends, they often found themselves in the same circles and at many of the same parties. One unforgettable moment came the morning after a party Lybang hosted, when Dan casually stumbled out of her utility closet—a moment that would later become one of their favorite stories to laugh about. At the time, neither of them could have imagined that their story was only just beginning. After high school, life took them in different directions, and they didn’t reconnect until August 2020 at a mutual friend’s wedding. Lybang attended as a guest, and Dan was a groomsman. What started as a simple conversation quickly became something more meaningful. Dan mentioned he was living in Las Vegas, Nevada and told her to reach out if she was ever in town. He would later admit that he was instantly drawn to her and hoped their paths would cross again. About a year later, Lybang did reach out: asking him about a reggae festival in Las Vegas and suggesting he be her tour guide. He happily agreed. Although she ultimately couldn’t make it to the festival, Dan had already bought tickets for them, a thoughtful gesture he kept to himself for years and one that perfectly reflected how intentional he was from the very beginning. Not long after, Dan found a reason to reach out again, asking about her corgi, Pepino. That message sparked regular conversations, and before long, he flew to Minnesota to take her on their first official date at Sushi Fix in Wayzata. What began as a simple dinner quickly became the start of a long-distance love story, filled with flights, late-night calls, and a growing connection neither of them could ignore. In early 2022, Lybang temporarily moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and Dan continued to visit her whenever he could, while she also traveled to see him in Las Vegas. Soon after, they discovered they were expecting their son, Gabriel. With that joyful news, they made the decision to build their life together in Las Vegas, where they purchased a home and began their greatest adventure yet, becoming a family. What started as two acquaintances in high school turned into a love story neither of them could have predicted. Through timing, distance, and a few unexpected turns along the way, Dan and Lybang found their way to each other... and now, they look forward to spending forever together.
