Lucy and Kyle started middle school at East and had Mrs. Mosquera for Language Arts and Social Studies. Lucy had glasses and was in band. Kyle had ears he hadn't quite grown into and spent his days playing baseball in the street with Jake, Eric, and Daniel.

Lucy and Kyle started eighth grade at East Middle School and, again, had Mrs. Mosquera together for Language Arts and Mr. O for Social Studies together. But this time, Mrs. Mosquera sat Kyle and Lucy next to each other, making them acting partners for the drama unit and competitors for best grade--obviously Lucy always scored higher in English class. Mr. O, too, put Lucy and Kyle in the same project group. They really had no choice but to exchange phone numbers to work on assignments together...

Kyle asked Lucy to be his girlfriend just a few days before Christmas--for real this time because they were finally 16 and Lucy was allowed to have a boyfriend.

Kyle tortured Lucy for months after they went ring shopping and he finally proposed at the Old Mission Lighthouse beach at the northernmost point of Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City. The engagement was met with a resounding "It's about time!" by family and friends.

Lucy and Kyle decided to postpone their wedding celebration due to the global pandemic, but were married in an intimate ceremony in the Wildman backyard on September 26.

Lucy and Kyle will get celebrate their marriage with all of their loved ones just miles from that lighthouse.
