Dear Family and Friends, We hope that everyone is staying mentally and physically healthy during the current pandemic. Who would have thought that would be something we ever have to post on our wedding website? We want to acknowledge the uncertain time we are living in and the potential affect that Covid-19 could have on our wedding. As we get closer to June, we will make sure to communicate any changes, if they should occur, with our guests. We will be collecting emails from our guests and will email and post on our website if any changes have to be made. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions you may have. While, we are optimistic that we will be able to have our wedding as scheduled in June, please know that we want to ensure that our guests are only traveling to attend our wedding if it is safe to do so. The health and safety of our cherished family and friends is always our top priority and we will strive to make wedding plans that reflect this. We are sending love to you all and hopeful for a joyful celebration in June. Love, Alex and Emily
The fateful meeting occurred in the summer of 2014. Emily and Alex happened to both be in Westport one fateful evening. Little did they know, this night would forever change both of their lives. Emily and Alex were both out with friends, several of which are in the wedding party and who had the privilege of witnessing the magical meeting. Emily was eating pizza with her friends at the end of the night and she happened to be wearing a balloon hat which she had procured earlier that night. Alex was waiting in line to get pizza, which was right next to the table where Emily and her friends were. Alex saw the hat and complimented it. This sparked a conversation between the two love birds, which continued far past the time when their friends wanted to leave the bar. Eventually, Alex asked the big question "can I have your phone number?" Emily still remembers the first text he ever sent her - "Alex :)" At the time they met, Emily was teaching in Texas and Alex was working as a nurse at KUmed. Emily only had a week before she returned to Texas, but they managed to squeeze in two dates. Their first date was at McCoys where they talked until the restaurant closed. Emily still remembers offering to drive Alex home if he "promised not to kidnap her." And so far he has kept that promise. The second date was at the classic Johnny's Tavern. After that, Emily returned to Texas and their long distance relationship began. They would see each other when Emily returned home and eventually Alex asked if he could come visit her in Texas. To the terror of Alex's family he traveled across the country to visit a girl they had never met. Luckily, Alex survived and the relationship thrived. A year later Emily started law school in Colorado and a year after that Alex moved to Colorado to join her. Two cats, one dog and a lot of love later, they are finally tying the knot. Thank you to everyone for joining us for our wedding, we cannot wait for the next chapter of our love story.
