Henderson Beach State Park
If you’re looking for a quiet beach oasis, Henderson Beach State Park is a great choice. It offers over a mile of undeveloped shoreline with soft white sand and clear Gulf water - perfect for swimming, reading, walking, or just taking a break from the busier parts of Destin. There are picnic tables where you can enjoy a peaceful meal and a short boardwalk trail if you feel like stretching your legs. It’s not far from town but feels calm and tucked away. It’s especially nice in April when the weather is warm but not too hot.
Crab Island Tours
Crab Island is a shallow sandbar off the coast of Destin that turns into a floating hangout spot once the weather warms up. Boats anchor around the area, and people spend hours lounging in the waist-deep water, swimming, and socializing. You’ll need to take a boat to get there - there are several tour operators offering floating Tiki cruises, pontoons, or shuttle boats. Some even allow you to bring your own drinks and snacks. If you’re up for something a little different and don’t mind getting wet, this is a fun and laid-back way to spend a few hours.
Saturday Morning Farmers' Market at Grand Boulevard
If you’re looking for something to do before the day gets going, the Grand Boulevard Farmers Market is a relaxed and fun option. It’s about a 20–25 minute drive from Destin in Miramar Beach and happens every Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM, rain or shine. The market is held in Grand Park, just outside the shops and restaurants at Grand Boulevard. You’ll find fresh produce, local honey, handmade bread and pastries, flowers, small-batch jams, pickles, natural soaps, and a few unexpected finds too. It’s an easy stroll and a great excuse to grab a coffee, browse, and maybe stock up on snacks for the weekend. There are also some cute brunch spots and shops in the area if you want to turn it into a full outing.
HarborWalk Village
Even when there aren’t events going on, HarborWalk is a good place to explore. There are local shops, restaurants with patios overlooking the water, and places to book fishing trips or dolphin cruises if you’re feeling spontaneous. It's one of the most walkable areas in Destin and has great views of the harbor and bridge.
Destin Commons
Destin Commons is an lively open-air shopping center with over 80 stores, restaurants, events, and even a movie theater. It’s a great spot to explore on a sunny afternoon or grab a bite if you want to take a break from the beach.

Located just east in Miramar Beach, Silver Sands offers 100+ designer and brand-name outlet stores with discounts up to around 65% off. You’ll find brands like Nike, Coach Outlet, Kate Spade, Saks OFF 5TH, and more. It has covered walkways, greenery, and dining options.
