Question

Can I take pictures at the ceremony?

Answer

We'd prefer to keep cell phones out of our ceremony. Our professional photographers are here to get the best shot possible, so please put away your phones, and enjoy the ceremony with us.

Question

Is there cell service at Dao House?

Answer

NO. This is a big one. But there is WiFi! Phone reception is very spotty at Dao House since it it nestled between Longs Peak and Twin Sisters. Those pesky mountains are always getting in the way! This is another reason we suggest staying on-site at Dao House. It's easy to coordinate when you're all staying in the same place!

Question

Do I really have to walk a half mile uphill to get to the ceremony?

Answer

...yes. And no! We will have vehicles shuttling you up to the site if you want! But feel free to walk since it's a beautiful trail. Just make sure your shoes, and the feet inside will survive a 15 minute walk on a dirt road. If you want to wear "ceremony" shoes to walk to the site, and "party" shoes for the reception, that would be a great way to do it!

Question

What should I pack??

Answer

Girl, we are turning it UP with this event! Dress. To. Impress. We've all been trapped inside for 16 months, let's do it up! Snazzy cocktail wear, with your sparkling best is encouraged. But mostly we want you to feel great! So wear what makes you happy!! Want to costume change between the ceremony and dinner? GREAT? Want to wear that sweet dinner jacket you've had sitting in your closet for over a year? YES. DO IT. On a more serious note: Colorado is famous for its rapidly changing weather- especially in the mountains. So bring layers! We always pack a puffy coat and a rain jacket when heading to the mountains for a hike, so those are safe bets. Also, you'll be 9,000 feet closer to the sun! You NEED sunscreen. Lindsay slathers on SPF 70 because she's white as a paper! snow! a ghost! Bring your good walking shoes during the day, and your most comfy party shoes for dancing the night away! And finally, water bottles for all the water you'll drink to stay hydrated.

Question

Does drinking at altitude actually get you more drunk?

Answer

NO. This is a myth. If you start feeling tipsy after a single drink, what's actually happening is that you have altitude sickness and you're making it worse. That means you need to drink more water and eat a snack. As soon as you get to Colorado you should start chugging water, whether you plan on drinking alcohol or not. And keep it up! Any physical activity you do will be more taxing on your body at 9,000 ft. We don't want anyone getting sick!!

Question

What about Covid?

Answer

Safety First! We hope that everyone who can vaccinate will do so. Take the best precautions that you can before travelling whether that's quarantining beforehand or getting vaccinated. We'll be updating this section periodically as more info comes out.

Question

Smoking/420?

Answer

420 friendly, no smoking indoors. Smoking outside at least 20 feet away from a door or window as well. If there is a fire ban, all guests need to be extremely cautious since they back up to Rocky Mountain National Park and are a stone's throw from National Forest, so smoking is only allowed in designated areas. Designated areas are out front of the lodge entrance doors near the car port (in the parking lot), and out at the parking lot of the restaurant area. During a fire ban, if a ranger comes by (unlikely), you could be fined for smoking outside in the parks. They also ask that butts are picked up and not left behind.
