Meg was a raft guide for this company when it was Outlaw Tours. John and Meg plan to go rafting with her old boss, Casey Harper, and her old co-workers. If they don't go rafting, they plan to tube a segment of the river. We will keep you posted on the final decision! If you decide to try out the train (see below), definitely consider Colorado Outback Adventures for your jeep trip home.
Purgatory Ski Resort is the mountain where Meg learned to ski, and it is a 4-minute drive from the wedding venue. Needless to say, the mountain offers plenty of Summer activities as well. Tuesday after the wedding will be a day of choosing your own adventure. Whether you fancy the Alpine Slide, Go-Karts, the Mountain Coaster, panning for gold, or checking out the scenic chairlift it is all offered at Purgatory. See you there!
The Bar D Chuckwagon is a classic. The Lieb family has spent Summer evenings at the Bar D since Meg's dad was a kid. John had his first experience at the Bar D this past Summer and fell in love. Enjoy dinner and a show on Sunday night with John and Meg.
The heart and soul of Durango: the train is an activity worth considering! The train has been running since 1882 and is one of the last coal-powered trains in the United States. While it will not be on John and Meg's itinerary, if you decide to take a train trip, Meg highly recommends doing a half-day (one-way to Silverton) and getting a Jeep tour back to Durango.
The Animas River Trail (ART), a hard surface shared-use path, is a very enjoyable paved trail great for all ages and skill levels. Running through the heart of Durango, it is the centerpiece of Durango’s overall trail system and a transportation backbone for the community. The concrete/asphalt trail stretches over 7 miles through town along the beautiful Animas River. It provides easy access to a variety of parks, open spaces and natural surface trails as well as the community recreation center, the public library, downtown Durango, neighborhoods and schools. The Animas River Trail is perfect for casual walkers and runners, as well as quick in-town bike rides or family cruises. Fun fact: you will also stumble upon the Trout Wall, a large trout mosaic Meg helped design and assemble when she was in middle school
