Travelling & places to stay

The Wedding Website of Landis Ehler and Ann Huston
The closest major airport is Denver International (DIA), which is 82 miles (~1hr 42min) from the Mountainside Lodge within the YMCA of the Rockies. https://www.flydenver.com The Y is located just outside the tourist town of Estes Park, CO, the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. There are all the restaurants, stores, medical center, and t-shirt/fudge shops you would associate with a tourist town.

Hotel

YMCA of the Rockies

We've reserved a block of rooms for our guests! If the link doesn't work, you can call the Central Reservations Office at (888) 613-9622 and ask for the Huston-Ehler Wedding! The reservations are available for three nights (Sept 16-18), and the minimum stay is two nights. If this room block fills up we will attempt to reserve another. Just let us know!

Travel Note

Rush Hour is real

Denver is a major city, so plan on spending time in traffic if your arrival/departure matches the schedule of metro commuters.

Travel Note

Altitude Sickness - We are literally on top of the Rockies!

The wedding/reception is being held at 8740' (2664m) above sea level. Unrivaled views of the mountains but also a slight risk for altitude sickness. Take it easy, hydrate often, and realize that you may find that walking around is a bit harder. And when it comes time for libations, pace yourself! Landis may be an EMT, but this is his day off. Headaches are the primary symptom used to diagnose altitude sickness, although a headache is also a symptom of dehydration. Treatment? Usually just move to a lower elevation. If you need help, don't wait!

"So close, yet feels so far away from the hustle and bustle of Estes Park. This very popular campground is located at an elevation of 8,300 feet at the end of a beautiful road just west of town. There are wonderful views of the snow covered peaks in Rocky Mountain National Park. This double loop campground offers shady sites suitable for tenters and campers with small RVs and trailers shorter than 22 feet in length. It is especially well-suited for families and outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore nearby nature and trails in Rocky Mountain National Park. Sites at this campground open up to views of Rocky Mountain National Park and starry nighttime skies. A mature blend of ponderosa and lodgepole pines interspersed with groves of aspens makes it a wonderful home away from home. It is an ideal setting for guests seeking recreation and relaxation. The camping season runs from mid-May to late September." And even better the campground is like 15-20 minutes from the wedding venue!!!
