Back in 2021, Sarah had just moved to the remote town of Enterprise, Oregon and adopted her puppy, Moose. Eager to explore the neighboring places around her, she called up her college friend Paige who had previously lived a couple hours north in the town of Moscow, Idaho and asked her what there was to do in Moscow. Paige decided right then and there that she would become the ultimate matchmaker, and set us up. Kyle had been a fly fishing guide for almost 7 years at this point, based out of Moscow. Paige said that "we both had the same sense of humor" and she was right. Needless to say, our first date went very well. We hiked, got ice cream, camped out and went on a fishing trip down the St. Joe River the next day. We both felt like we had known each other forever from that very first meeting.
Kyle swooned Sarah by making the 4 hour drive back and forth about a million times from the St. Joe River where he was guiding to Enterprise that first summer together. When his guiding season was over in November, we decided to hole up for the coming winter together. Kyle worked at a local friend's sheep farm and together we skied at the local ski hill, baked a lot of pies, and adventured into the snowy mountains together. Our apartment only had a wood stove for heat, so Kyle logged a downed massive larch tree to get us through the cold times. Eventually, Kyle decided that as much as he loves fly fishing, guiding kept him away for a lot of the year and it was time for a fresh chapter. While working on the farm one day, he heard a radio ad for the local hospital that was hiring Medical Assistants with on the job training (this was 2021). Thus began a new path for Kyle, and Sarah was so happy to have him stay.
We moved to the lovely town of Missoula, Montana in Spring of 2023. Kyle's been working his way through school to get a nursing degree while also working as a Medical Assistant at the hospital, and Sarah has been working for the Montana Dept. of Natural Resources on wildfire preparedness. We've been loving each minute of getting out to see the corners of Montana through river trips, hikes and bike rides along with our fluffy babies, Moose and Tipper. What we're most excited about in this next chapter is being together to witness all the things around the next bend. <3 <3 <3
